Ice storms are soooo pretty but it is horrible for travel. School was canceled for me AGAIN today because the roads aren't cleared yet. xD
I don't know about the weather in Canada, but I'm going to guess it gets colder up there since it's farther north, particularly inland.
Not that it's always warm here. -gonks- X_X; I can remember days where 15*F seems like a beautiful day after all of the -15*F days... January is horrible. D;
((PS, TG, thanks for the conversion. I don't know anything about Celcius other than the obvious, like zero degress is freezing. I've only ever used Celcius in chemistry, and that does no good as far as getting a feel for the numbers.))

It would be nice to not go below 10 Celsius, but then again it's nice to get the two seasons up here: Winter and Construction.
Seriously, I do enjoy getting a variety of weather, but sometimes it can seem like January and February can drag on. When it does get into the double-digits again, many people will be out without jackets (even if it is just 10 Celsius) since they will be used to much colder temperatures.

Cold is something I'll never get used to. xD
Oh! There was a skit that a comedian did once... it went something liiiiike...
"I ran into a few Canadians down here and California and they said that Cali is nice to visit, but they couldn't live here because they love seasons too much. I told them that I love seasons too--that's why I live in an area that skips all the ****ty ones."
It was funny, even though I understand the "Canadian Mentality" there. The snow is pretty sometimes, and the coldness ads variety to life!

I've experienced 3 upstate NY winters and it was possibly the coldest I've ever felt. I'll stick to the wind & rain over here.
Cool photos.

pfft, it's basically raining every day here in Vancouver. I hate rain. I used to live in Edmonton, where there was LOTS of snow and ice. ah, good times.

I can feel your "pain"... I have only been to Edmonton three times and I enjoyed myself when I was there. Although being in the center of everything on White Avenue didn't hurt either... I stayed at the Commercial Hotel, which is a 1 star hotel but they had a great Blues Club downstairs so that redeemed the place nicely...

Originally from Chicago - I found the solution!
I lived in Chicago and survived tooooo many ice/ snow storms. BTW they are caused by a temperature inversion, which is rare at best. I just talked to my sister there and everyone is staying home (home bound) or going out and crashing. Good times for the body shops.
Well, I found the solution quite by accident. 8 years ago, I came down to Buenos Aires for vacation. Opps - I just stayed. I know it's far but the exchange rate is favorable and the people/culture is nice. No climatic adversities whatsoever. - Just a thought.

well you are used to that coldness, but I'm not!
But in the summers the temperatures can go up to 45 degrees celsius(113 degrees Fahrenheit). And that is hot!

Up here we get all four seasons. In the winter it can get colde (-20 Celsius to -30 with the wind chill). In the summer we can go over 30 and sometimes 40 with the humidity.

all this makes me feel lucky that I have a warm home and warm clothing to keep my self warm...
Feel sad about the homeless outside in this weather, with nothing to guard them against the cold but their worn-out clothes
