Luggage fees!
Recently, I've just heard airlines are gonna start surcharging to check luggage. I believe $15-25 per bag. Starting July.
This is ludicris...Nothing is for free anymore. It's just like when they started charging an application fee in Florida to rent an apartment around the year of 2000.

Gas price is going up all the time and this is a way to help cover the costs of the airline

Yeah, I used to work for American Airlines right before I started doing affiliate marketing full time. It's not looking good for the airline industry. This bag fee is just another way to help them stave off bankruptcy. I think it's only a matter of time. A friend of mine who works for American said ever time fuel goes up, $10 it costs the airline some millions of dollars per day. I can't remember the exact statistic but it was staggering. There's no way they are going to be able to keep up for long.

Gas Prises
They can always switch to alternative sources. Hopefully not corn lol.
Better yet, these oil companies have got to be called into account. There mainly the ones causin' all the inflation(not to mention this false economy both Clinton and Bush has brought us in).

Economics 101
For what it's worth, here is a little truth from someone who has studied economics a little. I suspect most people recognize it in their sober moments but avoid it because there is no short, quick answer. It is kind of like the folks who show up here, admit they are starting from total ignorance about web sites, and want to be earning a full time living by next week.
Only if we face the truth and start some serious work on alternative sources of energy will we ever see any light at the end of the tunnel, and it will take some time. Oil is a commodity. We in America have been buying most of it for years. Many countries are developing economically fast, India and China to name just two. There are more. Now they want the same living standard we do, including cars.
Commodities, like oil, sell on an open market. It is like an auction. Whoever pays the most gets it. Futures investing and the like stimulate temporary unreasonable distortions but even that doesn't change the overall truth. There is no stopping it.
There is no use getting mad at people for selling it at rates we don't like, either. If two people asked you to design a web site for you and one says they will pay $100 while a second says they will pay $500 for the same work should people get mad at you for taking the higher paying job?
No matter whether we like it or not, the only reasonable thing to do is to accept the facts, then plan how we will deal with the reality that is, not the one we wish for.

Still doesn't change the fact that my trip to Disney in mid-July is now costing a small fortune?! LOL!
Do you think it's a long walk from Montreal?

LOL, Kerry. I know what you mean. I just bought a ticket to Vegas and had to make sure I hadn't actually input Paris as the destination as I was making my reservation online. LOL What happened to those $119 fares I used to get???

One of the reasons to work from home, save a bit of money by cutting down on travel by car to work. Not to mention not wanting to go there in the first place.
That money is needed for the high price of food and the heat those of us that live in the cold areas of the country are going to have to put up with this winter. Hopefully it won't be that cold this year.
I usually get one cord of wood and it will last a winter season plus into the summer. However because electricity has gone up and I won't be using it much (I have electric heat) this year I know I'm going to be burning more wood then usual (unless we are blessed with a mild winter) so I'm going to purchase two cords of wood, put a metal backing in my fireplace and put plastic on my windows.
It's as if were going back to horse and buggy. Heck, I always wanted a horse.

The way this oil prices are going up I think we will have to go back to good old days where our forefathers use to survive.
When oil prices go up at the rate they are going up it gives everyone a hard time as your earning is not going up at same pace.
We will just have cope with what ever we can and hope for the best.

A friend of mine just sent me this article that was sent to the employees. Not that this news is shocking or anything but this just confirms how bad things are...
All the major airlines could be in bankruptcy by early next year if oil prices stay where they are, a new study predicts. The grim analysis, by the consulting firm AirlineForecasts, was commissioned by the Business Travel Coalition. Its author concludes that the airline industry is in a full-blown crisis "and heading toward a catastrophe." The study found that major airlines could lose up to $9 billion over the next 12 months. Fares would have to increase 20 percent across the board to compensate for the higher costs of fuel, something that "is not possible given the level of uneconomic seat capacity in the system today."

I work for Continental Airlines
Well I work for Continental Airlines, and I know that they are charging $25 for the second bag,one bag is still free, I havent heard of anything as far as the aisle and window seats that is just stupid. I may get laid off which I am not too worried about because I have been wanting to quit for a while. I believe if you try to buy the tickets well in advance certain places will still be at a discounted rate, but I am not sure on that. I use my flying benefits right now = ) I probably will be in the same boat as you guys soon enough though. = ) Continental is laying off from what we are hearing 3,000 by september, but there are a lot of people who want to do early retirement. I think they needed to start thinking of alternative fuel a long time ago. Now everyone wants to buy hybrids, motorcycles, and etc. CRAZY CRAZY.
