Totally agree Ulrich and others. I used to be a big PC gamer back in the 80's and 90's and loved games like Might and Magic, King's Quest and other role playing games for the PC. These games really did have substance and you have to really use your head to figure things out. I remember Space Quest was huge but never knew what that game was about.

I also used to play Leisure Suit Larry. LOL Now of course there's no substance there but that was a big deal back in the 80's. It's kinda funny because that game really pushed the envelope in the 80's but compared to what goes on now with these games, Larry would probably be considered PG. Even still, I loved games like that where you had to find things and figure out how to use them in the game. Of course the games today still use that principle but it's it seems all violence based.

I am not a big fan of the shoot-em-up (or "guy games" as I call them... LOL) and agree they all seem the same. When I do play any of the more recent console games I only play sports games 'cause I love the animation and how real it seems.

The quest games were bar far my favourites. Sierra was the company that created those games (King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Liesure Suit Larry, and Quest for Glory) at the time. I play games from all the series.

I enjoy the Quest for Glory series the most as you develop a character in the first one and can then use that character in the next 4 titles.

The Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry games contained the comedy, while the King's Quest contained the fantasy. The Police Quest came close at imitating real police life.

Games are definitely more violent nowadays. I enjoy playing the Elder Scrolls new games as they are completely open. You do whatever you want to do in those games.

For me, sometimes these are the days. I still play some of the older games on my current computer with XP.

Default I remember Police Quest!

I love that game! Now who remembers that program Bleem? It was a software emulator that allowed you to play Playstation 1 & 2 games on your computer. I'm not sure if it's still around. I used to love that program!

I remember Elder Scrolls too. How times have changed. Aside from some basketball games I have no interest in video games anymore. Sad.

Cool. I bought Law and Order a couple of years ago because it reminds you of an up-to-date Police Quest. It was pretty fun but I got stuck on one crime scene so I haven't gone back to it yet. I need to look up the cheats. That's one great thing about the Internet you can look up cheats when you're stuck. Sure couldn't do that back in the 80's.

Yes, Police Quest was also great but I was too little to understand too much of what was going on back then but I used to love watching my brother playing it and even my mom joined in because it was so funny and you often needed some help to get further.

Leisure Suite Larry used to have some questions before you could play the game in order to determine whether you are 18 or not... how cool is that . If you fail, you can't play the game.

Contra was a good game too for me and streetfighter although it was always in the shadow of Mortal Kombat for me.

It's really great to read about other people's gaming experiences, some similar and some totally different to that of mine.
