Default Would a Yorkie fansite break even?

I am thinkig about starting a yorkshireterrier fansite after my other site is up and running strong, but I am a little concerned. Would a Yorkshire Terrier site make enough off of adsense to break even? Or is it too narrow of a topic?

I think a site about yorkies would not make mega bucks. But I think with the right content and if you give it enough time I really think I would make you some money. You can always show ebay and amazon adverts on the site. Yorkie's are expensive and there are many kennel and pet stores online selling them. See if there is affiliate programs.

I don't want to make big bucks with it xD I want to educate the world about yorkies without PAYING big bucks.

Yorkies are technically the second most popular breed in America right now, and most of the yorkie sites are horrible right now, so I think maybe I'll be okay.... but then I have doubts... =/

I think you should go for it! You are right, if you do a search for yorkies its all sites selling them. So manybe you will have an edge over the other sites and you will attract the right people to the site, yorkie lovers.

Totally agree. When you are passionate about something you never know what can evolve over time.

Default Go For It

My better half works at an animal hospital. I am amazed at the stories of how far people will go for their dogs/cats. I’ve seen these groups set up “play dates” for their pets, and even one person who took their pet, his friends and their families on a cruse for the dogs birth day. If you can build a good site, word about your site will get passed among the Yorkshire terrier community.

Will you have a links directory? That can help with traffic, and traffic with adsense. Links i think would be especially nice are ones to the yorkie rescue organizations for each community, and ask for one back from them. The more sites linked to you the higher your ranking, and the more opportunities for receiving traffic from them. Maybe a forum also so people can talk about their yorkies?

I dont think its to narrow at all, its better than just saying "dogs" because plenty of people have dogs in there homes, but not so many have Yorkshire Terriers and it will be useful for those people to get direct information about there particular breed of dog rather than the dog generalisation information.

I have always said a new project is a risk, but if you work hard enough it always pays off whether if its adsense cheques or mass traffic and online respect and value.

I think that you should be able to cover your operational costs (Domain name and hosting) with that niche.

Keep on writing quality content and who knows what will happen.
