Default "journey" approach

This may just be one of those questions where you already know the answer, but I thought I'd ask and see if any of you had success (or failure) in this idea.

There is a subject matter which is a strong interest of mine, however it can be an extremely difficult concept to understand, especially if you've had little experience. To cut to the chase, I'm talking about financial investments.

I was considering starting a site documenting my experimentation with different stock options, mutual funds, IRA settings, etc, and then adding my commentary and lessons learned.

I've been doing my research on what makes a site successful. Part of me feels that you should try a subject in which you're knowledgeable, but I was curious to know if anyone had tried this approach before.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

jackie

It really should be on something you know or something you have an interest in as that will keep you on top of updating your site etc.

I think documenting your experimentation and making a site is a great idea. Not only are you providing people with 'newbie' info but you are also learning two trades at once. I've done the exact same with my SEO blog, I just post on things that I've learned about or what I'm currently testing and that seems to go down well with my readers.

I always go with topics I've had experience with and I think that is always the way to go unless you are motivated enough to learn something new about a topic and do the research to make a useful site. But I always suggest going with your interests. And if it's stocks, you can talk about mistakes you made and other experiences along the way. People love to know that you've been there!

Your always better sticking to what your interested in, because your passion for it will show in weather its a blog or website. If its something new, you will hit a brick wall quick as far as growing the site.

Default thanks, Lisa

I'm doing the research for myself anyways, so if I can allow others to read, laugh, and learn from my errors, I'm hoping the material will be both interesting and helpful. I appreciate your input!
