Default ad rotator

I made script for my website which rotates CJ ads whn a user refreshes the page. I don't know how much these things cost out there for people that are using it. Lisa, i can see that you're using it for this forum.

Would you guys be interested if i made a ad rotator script available for download?

Ad rotating scripts are great, especially when they have reporting options. I used to use a CGI-based on a LOOOONG time ago and I remember wishing I had chosen one with better reporting.

The one I'm using now on this forum is actually from CJ.com. They automatically generate the script for you after you select which banners you want to rotate.

Thumbs up

Great Job webdev!

I believe ad rotator script would be a great free incentive!

I also use CJ - and I like their rotator, especially because they automatically replace ads when they expire.

But those ads that are not from cj, would be great to be able to rotate them.

So i think it is a great incentive!

sorry, i did not express myself very clear.

I meant if someone wants to put his own mix of ads on website, than ad rotator is very cool thing.

What can of ads would those be?

I have only worked with CJ and adsense ads so far. CJ has its own ad rotator. Perhaps, a script to rotate adsense ad formats could be nice?

Also, i'm thinking what kind of statistics people would like to see with their ads rotators. Some of them i can think of are.
  • Number of times a particular ad appeared on the page
  • How many impressions per ad.
  • Number of clicks per ad.

Based on these statistics i can drive calculations to calculate CTR, best performing ads, best performing ad formats, possibly best performing ad positions and so on.

Thoughts guys?

Now that would be nice. Better make sure that doesn't violate any AdSense terms first (they are so picky!) But I wouldn't think that it would.

The ability to reset the stats is always a nice feature if you're doing some testing of how an ad performs.

I don't know if i be able to track clicks on adsense ads (i tried writing a script but didn't have anyluck achieving it) and it may be against TOS. i haven't read it yet.

However, as an adsense publisher, i play around with different ad formats a lot. I find sometimes changing ad formats, color pallets and sticking it back into my code a hassle.

I think i could create something where you can manage all that from one place. For example you can change the link colors, border colors, etc, ads would will change across your whole website.

If you have ad channels setup, you can play around with different color settings of individual ad channels to see which are performing good through your adsense reports.

Yeah I play around with that stuff too from time to time but my question is if your ad rotator script is generating the adsense code (even if it's just switching up the colors) isn't that a violation? I'm not sure why I thought I read you must do all your color changes through the AdSense setup area. (Although I'm not sure how they'd know if you simply just change the hex color. I'm sure people do it all the time without logging into their account.)
