Lightbulb Photography Tips Blog ?

I am very new to this, and have decided to begin creating a simple blog to test my publishing skills.

I am quite passionate about keeping fit and eating healthily but as this sector is over crowded i have decided to go with my other passion : Photography.

Is this a good idea ?
Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

Andy,

I notice this is your first post... Welcome to Website Babble!

I think photography is a great topic, especially if you are passionate about it. One thing I would keep in mind as you narrow down your topic is to think about who exactly your target audience is. Is it someone who has never used a camera before? Is it someone who only uses $5000 cameras? etc... and think about how you will add value or help them develop their hobbies as photographers.

Hope this makes sense

Sherif

Thanks for the advice, i was planning on publishing separate advice for Novice and Experienced Photographers so as to draw in a wider audience.

Most basic photography and image editing tips can be used by anyone with even the most basic of camera anyways

I think however that i would attract more people new to photography so i will veer off in that direction in the future.

Welcome!

I agree with Sherif, definitely narrowing your niche is key. You've probably already heard of Darren Rowse. He makes six figures per year from his Photography blog. You may want to check out his blog just to get some ideas if you haven't already.

Of course I'm not suggesting that you copy his style or topic, but I learn a lot from studying other successful bloggers and webmasters by watching how they make use of Twitter, their writing style, how they communicate with their audience, etc.

Another thing to keep in mind as you're brainstorming is make sure you look at what's already been done. If you are thinking of doing a site for photography newbies, take a look at the sites that already exist on this topic. What are they missing that you can capitalize on? Is there one key component they always leave out that you could cover?

When you think along those lines, that's a good way to grab a nice piece of the market for your niche. Try to think outside the box and offer something unique or present your info in a way that hasn't really been done.

Hope that helps.

Good recommendation, Lisa.

I'm just getting back into photography after years of distraction so I have gotten up to par on web sites. This looks like a good one.
