Default Website / Blog / Forum

I wasn't sure how to title it so it can be adjusted if needed.

What I want to know is, I have a very simplistic website but I don't know really want to make pages upon pages of webpages because I'm not really up for doing that. What I do have is a blog and a forum on my site. Is it ok to have a few static webpages and rely on the blog and forum for most of my site's content?

Well the more useful content you have, the better. So even if you don't plan to update your website often, hopefully you will put that energy and add content to your blog on a regular basis. Either way you are going to have to write content if you want to start drawing in traffic.

Oh I plan on keeping updated posts on my blog. I happen to like blogging. In 2 days I've made 7 posts. I know that will change as I get some more posts up and may only post at least once a week, but I plan to keep my blog content fresh.

First, welcome to WB!

While in theory it should work, I see a potential problem.

The topic for the website is to support those who have mental health issues, but the forum and the blog are not really related to that topic. This will probably not help you increase traffic to your website... at least it won't bring in traffic/people who are interested in mental health issues.

If you focus your blog and forum on the lifestyle issues that those with mental health issues face, then it can increase traffic.

Hope this makes sense.

Sherif

It makes since but I wanted to let you know that I do have some forums that are dedicated to some mental health issues. I'd place the links but I know that's not allowed. I have forums for autism, asperger's, bipolar, depression, sensory issues, and epilepsy (which I know isn't a mental health issue but is related to autism as some autistics develop seizures).

If someone can suggest some forums that I could add for that, I'd be glad to add them to my forum. It was just all I could think of at the time. I really got to get the mental health forums out of the co-existing issues forum because that's not relevant to my site anymore.

I originally designed my site specifically for asperger's disorder, but my visitors told me I won't get a lot of visitors with such a specific niche so I branched out a little bit.

I appreciate you taking the time to analyze my site and providing feedback. Thanks to all of you.

Andy...

Just curious... how many visitors told you this, and I also wonder why they would tell you this. I think Asperger's is a problem that many kids and parents face. While it's specific, I would speculate there is enough interest in it.

Visitors commented to my posts on another website and they said that I might not get that many forum users because my forum was to a specific niche. Either way, I like the fact that I've expanded it anyway so it doesn't really hurt...

Yeah I'm not sure about that. I always felt the more niche your forum was the better. If you look at popular forums on the net they are normally centered around one topic or at least related topics/themes.

BTW, you can add your forum links to your sig file by going to UserCP (top left of forum)
