Ok I have not started on my website yet, and I am really starting to get frustrated, because I keep throwing all these ideas out there, and then I keep smashing them down like flies. How did you guys know that what you wanted to start a website on was what you wanted to do...I am just so mad that I cant find out what I really want to do. What should I do to help figure out what I want to do. Any suggestions help...ANY!

Why don't you tell us a little about yourself - your likes, dislikes, what you know a lot about, etc. Maybe that will help us give you some ideas.

Sometimes it can be frustrating trying to choose a topic, but you have to be patient. You want to make sure you're starting off with a topic you'll truly enjoy.

Basically a good combination to look for is something that you like, have a passion for or willing to learn about - combined with - a market that is searching for information on your topic/niche.

Once you narrowed down some topics use a keyword tool (wordtracker has a free one that you can find through the search engine by entering "wordtracker free keyword tool"). This will give you a good idea of your market demand. There's other tools that you can use in addition to this but this is a start and may just help you narrow & decide.

If no one (or very small amount) of people are searching for your topic then I'd chuck it if I were you and go for a more profitable topic that I like (unless you just want to build a site for the fun of it). Also SiteBuildIt! is a superb website program that will guide you to a profitable niche. I'm currently using this program myself. Best Wishes

Well...I am the only girl out of 4 kids. My parents own two tire shop businesses in a small town called Humble, Texas. I work for Continental Airlines part time right now. I love to travel, and see different things. I have been to Rome, St. Thomas, St. John, Tortula, Trinidad and Tobago (my parents are from there), Mexico City (one of my bros lives there), California, New York, Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana, Arizona. I am going to school to get my bachelors in Biology, to later go to Optometry school. But I love photography...black and white pictures are AMAZING, i havent had a chance to get back into it though. I have 1 niece two nephews who sometimes drive me crazy but they are the best. I have three pitbulls, and one min pin, which me and my boyfriend love and take care of. I hope to get a house by the end of this year, or at least move out of my parents. I want to start going to school full time. I dont really want to work for Continental next year. I wanted to start a website, so I could go to school full time and then still have a bit of an income, but not have a job that I have to go to everyday and clock in. I still work at my parents shops as the secretary so I get income there, but I dont have to work my school schedule around them they work it around me...thats pretty much it though.

I think you niche should be either travel related or photography. Do you have a favorite vacation spot, or is there a city/destination that you have a lot of knowledge about? Maybe a website about black and white photography?

Thanks for the advice. I may do something on St. John in the virgin islands...it is an amazing little island. I just may need to go back and visit..for work and pleasure...Thanks for everything.

Just curious, what type of work do you do for Continental? There might be some ideas there.

As West mentioned, black and white photography sounds good, because you are very interested in it. Also, a website about St. John is a great idea. But if you take some of us to St. John with you, we may be more helpful here in the forum by giving your suggestions and ideas for your website I volunteer myself to go!

I like West idea also. A website on travel with some of your black and whites sounds interesting. Maybe you'd like to even add some pictures of your dogs, I think it would add a bit of character. Just an idea.

I however really like Sherif's idea about taking us along to St. Johns. We could really help you come up with some great ideas if we were there. I volunteer myself also.
