So here's the deal: I live in Bournemouth, a fairly new (200 years?) town on the coast of South England, one of the few places that isn't drowned in pollution, traffic and shipping. It also happens to be one of the sunniest places in rainy old England. When the weather here is good, it's wonderful to sit on the beach and enjoy the scenery: it isn't too hot, but not cold either. A pretty good place to go on holiday.
I was thinking of making a sort of "what to do in Bournemouth" type site, with local travel info, pick out a few good restaurants, hotels etc. and write a lot about the scenery and views, as I can get easy pictures, being a resident. And interview some people (school teachers?) as to why Bournemouth is a good place to go.
I'd obviously have easy access to information, as I've lived here all my life, and I could give an "insider's opinion" on it, instead of just facts. What do you think? Would the idea fall short at the first hurdle? Is there too much competition? I'm 14, so I can't exactly invest $xxx on it, but my mum has agreed to let me go around and take pictures if I decide to go ahead with it.
Thanks for reading, and I'd really appreciate your advice!
Sort of like Nori did on anguilla-beaches.com? I absolutely think this will be a good idea if you follow her lead on how detailed the information is. A lot of travel info sites fall short when it comes to providing unique or insider information. So as long as plan to provide fresh, useful info then yes, I think it's a good idea.
Have a look at some brainstorming tools to make sure there are people searching for the keywords you want to target. I use Google's AdWords tool quite a bit... https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Thanks! I'll have lots of spare time in the summer holidays, maybe I'll start on it then - going out and taking photos etc.
Also, what kind of host should I use? I don't have a lot to invest, and I really don't have the guts for SiteBuildIt, because my mum will kill me if it fails What's the next best thing?
(I do have some webdesign skills, and I can code in valid XHTML strict 1.0 and CSS.)
Edit:// Also, does bournemouth2go.com sound okay for this?
