Information on monetizing a forum?

Anyone got any good links for information on maintaining and monetizing a forum?

I'm also interested in learning about Lisa's experience with this forum.

As you can see, I don't monetize this forum much. I have ads in the right column that bring in a little bit of revenue, but the main goal of this forum is to cross promote by blog and 2createawebsite. In many ways, monetizing a forum is no different than monetizing a regular website. Are you looking for something more specific?

Really? I don't get that vibe ^^';

Yes, I would like to browse through some sites with information on how to host a successful forum that at least carries its own weight (as far as money goes) but all I'm finding is pure garbage.

You make a good point. You don't see many sites with tips on monetizing a forum (maybe because it's very similar to a website in so many ways) Ad sharing was discussed in another post and I know that's what the folks over at digitalpoint do.

CPM image ads is probably best. For each 1000 impressions you get some money.

You can also implement Google ads.
