Default Dance as a topic?

I recently started looking into making money online.. I am 18 years old and have been going to college for two years now. Of course, I am very ambitious.. lol. So I made the mistake of going way against my instincts and signed up for some ridiculous survey offer that costs me a one time fee of $39. Of course it didn't pay off, as I was too impatient and am not sure it would work to begin with, as I have had problems with surveys in the past. Next came rebates.. I had learned from my mistakes though, finding out that the real revenue came from a sort of affiliate marketing. So, I went to the source and started reading up on exactly what affiliate marketing is. Of course I am still not 100% sure, I managed to stumble on [Lisa]'s website. (She must be good at what she does! lol)

Anyways, I read quite a few pages [Lisa] had, trying to learn as much as I could, and was especially intrigued by Google Adsense, mostly because it DOES make sense to me. But then I started thinking, what could I POSSIBLY have to teach others. I have a lot of knowledge, but mostly basic knowledge, and like [Lisa] said I cannot become the next Yahoo and give a little information on a lot of things. Of course that was probably the best advice I have heard all day, and it makes total sense. So what I started to think of next was a particular subject. And I realized that I search the internet a lot, and what I really loved was something I feel I could contribute to. Dance.

My thoughts were like this.. A lot of people dance, whether it is a school dance or a club, yet many people just go with the flow. While there is nothing wrong with that, going to a dance and not really knowing what to do is somewhat nerve-racking, and I admit that I was afraid to go to them myself. As I got older, I realized how much I wanted to learn from movies such as Stomp the Yard. I wanted to dance like the people in the movies, I wanted to be good, I wanted to be able to express my feelings for music as well as look cool at the same time. So began my search online.. most of my moves came from other peoples own freestyling videos.. there were some tutorials, but it was pretty rough trying to get a real grip on it.. and the sites that show up on google were next to useless to me. But, through work I was able to learn quite a bit and at the very least enough to wow my friends. I am still learning, and have not paid for a single class. (Although I will be sure to recommend people learn the proper way!)

While I am hardly qualified to TEACH to dance, but I do know quite a bit about basics, do and don'ts, theories and such. How to make preliminary videos should they want to get into the dancing community more, what hitting on beats really is and such. It is a topic I get excited about, and the thought of teaching others or helping them learn at least, intrigues me quite a bit.

So I had a couple questions..

First off, I was wondering what type of estimated traffic a well organized site containing detailed information on how to learn to dance on the internet, as well as basic concepts of forms, and history, would receive. Of course I am still planning it out, and I am not the greatest dancer as you can see if you want to look at some of my videos on youtube *http://www.youtube.com/user/DMSEafm* (although those were made within a month of when I first started). I feel like I could help with perspective, where to start off, and good resources of where to learn. I would welcome any opinions if anyone would be nice enough to offer them.

*I was thinking of a url such as www.dance-free-online.com or www.dance-basics-online.com* Although they both sound cheesy, I agree with the keywords idea.

Would really like to know if it is a good topic to start with. Thank you for you time!

It's hard to estimate traffic... it depends on how in-demand the keywords you are targeting are, and how well your site ranks in the search engines.

To figure out the kind of demand for keywords, here are some tools:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/

On your other thread, you mentioned you are considering SBI... SBI has its own tool to estimate keyword demand, and also it tells you the relative competition (how many other people have quality pages on the same keyword).

The domains you mentioned sound fine, but once you narrow down your topic, you may have other ideas for a domain name.

Hope this helps.

Well, I have pretty much decided what I want, although I know the amount of work that must be put into it. I have spent the last 24 hours thinking about this topic and I can't get it off of my mind because I am so excited to get started.

I do understand that dance itself is a huge topic, but I will be mostly focusing on freestyle dancing and moves, and how to learn such on the internet. The best thing about my site will most likely be that it is more of a one stop site, as compared to looking at 100 youtube videos, and searching wikipedia for history of dancing styles. I am going to try and research as best possible for the most credible sources possible.

The reason I don't want to, or should I say can't, get SBI! to start with is that I can't afford $299 straight off. Next is the fact that I am going to be at least a couple months writing basic content for the site. One thing about dance is you need a good combination of text, stillshots, and video to really give a good perspective.

As for switching to SBI! later, I was thinking of it this way - Spend the first few months ironing out a site at a low price, then switch to SBI!, mostly for advertising purposes. I think it would be extremely beneficial to have my ideas in HTML so I can really see what the site will look for.

I know planning big is a good way to fail, but I am really trying to work this out so I don't run out of steam and can help people learn while making money as well. I have really been organizing this all in my head as best as possible, with a small amount on paper as well. Topics, subtopics, material to be included, good sources of information, etc. So I am going to keep planning and evaluate my options as for a site probably for the next few days at least. School makes it harder though.

Thank you very much for your help though.

And thanks for welcoming me, I hope I can be as of much assistance as others are to me. I will be fairly active here, I think.
