Default Planning and maintaining a website

I'm not really a professional in the field of marketing and web designing/development, but I think the following information is healthy to any newcommers .

We all know that content is king. If you've got a new website or are planning on creating one first choose a topic that interests you because if it doesn't the site will soon be obsolete because you'll find yourself bored at updating and maintaining it.

After you have a good topic of which you also have substantial knowledge create a schedule for yourself. Try to write an article, tutorial or whatever it may be at least once a week. Make it a goal to publish one article on every monday or every friday for example. It won't seem like much at the beginning but give it a year and you'll have 52 totally UNIQUE articles which you've written yourself. If you've got spare time you can even write more than one a week, but try not to push yourself over the limit.

Hope this helps

Default

Ulrich,

This is good information. I have found this to be very true. In some of my past projects, I would rush my content just for the reason of "having content" on my pages. Well, that bit me in the butt a few times. Because the content was not from my heart. However, taking a step back and and focusing on an article a week will give you 52 articles in a year. Just image if you did two a week. The point is, taking your time to put your site together will pay off faster than trying to rush it.

Default I second that motion.

Yes, content is good and breaking down any goals, website related or not, into small pieces is a great way to achieve the bigger goals.

I just wanted to drop my 2 cents in the bucket by saying that creating your own content is obviously the most important but it is not always a bad thing to add some shared content or plr articles to your site.

Which yes you must link back to the originator of this information, but if you can come up with 1 article of your own and find 2 articles that somebody else has written and is ok with sharing on your site every week, you can really explode your content this way.

Just a thought, take it or leave it.

here's a couple sites that may help:

http://freewebcontent.org

http://www.articlesfactory.com

http://www.freesticky.com/stickyweb

or if you would like to use any articles from my own sites, you have my permission, but please link back to me as well.
