Starting a managed blog hosting service. Your opinions ?

Hi,

I am thinking of starting a managed blog hosting service. I need your opinions and suggestions.

It works something like this: I buy reseller hosting from a good hosting company and create some 20 or so accounts.

I will offer the following services:

- Installation of Wordpress
- Installation of themes
- Installation of plugins
- Adsense or other PPC ads integration
- Customization of themes
- Wordpress upgradation

The customer will have to bother only about the blog posts and nothing else. Everything else will be handled by me.

Now, how much should I charge for this service?

Is this idea feasible ?

Suggestions are welcome.

With proper advertising it will probably work out. The charge shouldn't be too high. You could also sell hosting too, it would give you more customers.
But hosting is very competitive area so you should first look at competitors, look what they offer and think what you can add. You could also make a free wordpress host, with your own google ads for example. Add many, many plugins and different skins and you will probably have pretty good start as well

Were you considering residual payments or an annual payment?

For a hosted and maintained blog service, I would pay $10 to $20 per month.

Is that kind of what you were thinking?

I am thinking of monthly payments, just like other with hosting accounts.

I think it is good price. I have seen some hosting companies offering managed blog hosting for $15 or so.

What would be your overhead with the reseller plan hosting?

I am thinking of starting with a reseller account from hostgator. It costs about $24/month. They offer 25GB/250GB [diskspace/badwidth] and also WHMCS and a domain reseller account @ enom. I can upgrade later if I need more bandwidth or disk space.
