Need a Website Idea
Hi, I'm interest in developing a website with the intention of making money. I do know a bit of web designing myself though am having trouble thinking of an idea. Unfortunately I don't sufficient knowledge in any particular area to develop a website on. Likewise I don't have any skills/services to offer as I am quite young still. Lately I've been contemplating on ideas for my site however have really struggled. I would like to create a site which would not require much maitenance and updating as I am quite busy. I was thinking of maybe creating a site on my favourite soccer club (AC Milan), however the issue with that would be that I have to constantly update scores, results, fixtures, news, etc. It would be most appreciated if anyone could suggest any ideas. Thank you.

Hi
If you want to make money then constant updates in the beginning is a must. A big part of gaining credibility with the search engines so they bring you traffic is frequent updates, especially when your site is new. So I worry when you say you don't have much time to devote to your site. That's fine, just don't have high expectations of success if you really can't devote the time to it.
Remember, it's not just about building content. This is also about learning how to market your site and in my opinion THAT is what takes the most time in the long-run.

Lisa is right, there are lots of things to learn and do when you are just starting up and with the intention of generating some income from it.
Perhaps you can start a blog talking about your favorite soccer club, not necessary to compete with those real-time stats sites, but just some personal comments on the club or after match comments/analysis and prediction for coming matches etc. , that should get you some readers that is also following the club, get them to comment and slowly when the crowd get bigger, you should be able to generate some income from the blog, of course you need to explore what are the income generation options that is suitable for your audience.
Hope that helps

after you get some topic and have people comment on your blog topics you can have a forum for people to post their questions like this one!!
This thing surely helps!

The whole points of blogs or weblogs was originally meant to be a substitute for a notepad and pen or person diary but instead made available to the public.
Of course a blog comes along with lots of other included features such as RSS so you can always update your content quick and easy and after all as lisa said major search engines thrive on fresh content and they will soon pick up your content complete articles.
One of the members here at WebsiteBabble used to run a fan site for his favourite club you should definitely check it out and pick up some ideas.

How does this apply to information sites? The content for an information site is pretty static right? Is it still possible to gain search engine credibility? I realize that you do have to update content on an information site but its not a frequent process especially when your site is new. So, will this affect search engine credibility/rankings?

Not necessarily, information sites can always be updated say if you were creating a site on Tax Refunds, you would need to update your site regularly for updates in policies, new regulations and further updates that people should know about.
Its important to stay dedicated and focused to keeping your site enriched with fresh content so the human visitors always have something new too look at if they revisit and the new visitors are intrigued by your spectacular credibility.

If you want to make money, you need to choose a niche that can be profitable. If you want to use adsense, you need to see if the keywords are profitable. It's also easier if you find a niche that interests you and you would enjoy writing about. For me this is investments, I can talk and write all day about finance and investing and some of the keywords on adwords have a max CPC of $22, so it's a good mix, something I enjoy and good CPC.
