Default Old Dog with Old Website needs help

I have an old website "Biz2Biz dot com" that I have actually owned since 24-Apr-1995 and has about 260 incomming links.

It has some mortgage junk on there now since at one time I was selling leads.

I am trying to decide where to take it next, currenlty planning on using SBI to create a new incarnation possibly some business to business niche.

Any ideas or advise would be appreciated.

Hi Pokey

Welcome! I started a new thread for your question, since it wasn't really related to the thread you replied to. (No prob you're new the board. )

What are your plans for the site? Be careful about creating biz sites when you are new or aren't making much money yet. Not only is that topic highly competitive but it's hard to build credibility if you aren't making much money yourself. People want to know you are actually earning from whatever you are promoting or writing about.

Two things make you money out here.... lots of traffic and lots of credibility in the subject matter you choose. Business and money making sites are very hard to gain in those two areas. So I would strongly suggest you avoid that topic unless you have a very specialized niche within that big, competitive niche.

Point well taken! The B2B area is very competitive.

I have built some large high profie corporate sites like Mitusubishi.com and have built many sites for small companies which dramatilly increased their sales and profits.

My expertise lately, has been building integration software between businesses - XML and Web-Services, as well as a recent B2B website for the bank which was highly profitable until they went out of business. (hmmm, why does that last statement not seem to make sense)?

In any case, I do NOT believe I have done enough sit-ups to start a site like www.flat-stomach-exercises.com so better stick with what I know something about.

Default Different ideas in my head

Thanks for your comment Rob,

One of my interests is the GREEN movement, solar, wind, construction, etc. I would enjoy building and informational site in this area.

Another expertise of mine is Mortgage, Credit and Debt so was looking into that as well. I have a domain called "iRateFree" that I was mulling over. However there are a million Mortgage Brokers with websites that you have to compete with.

My thought for Biz2Biz is to build an informational site with examples and strategies for building sites that attract customers as well as tie into CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, and other business enabling software. But as Lisa noted this is a very competitive area also.

So far I like your green movement the best. It would appear to have the least amount of competition and if it's something you're really interested in, that would make a fabulous topic with all the attention going green has been getting.
