Today I came up with a new idea: after I signed up for the forums it got me thinking about how I could easily develop my own forum platform, and offer it as well as other web applications for web entrepreneurs. Think this idea would go over well if I was able to produce quality applications? or is entry too competitive?

I Think this is too competitive. No one has gotten close to the "Golden Three" which is phpBB, vB and Invision.. Well, SMF is also kinda up there.

But there are dozens of other forums .. and many of these are developed by huge team, some of them have great funding. And they still struggle.

Thats kind of how I felt... thats why I had to ask But I don't limit myself to a web forum platform. Any ideas of something that would maybe go over better?
