Fitness website; bad idea???
I've been really really interesed in web based buisness for a long time.
I found 2createawebsite this morning on google and already have learned a ton this morning, thanks. I do have some questions if you have a minute.
I want to create a money generating website (I have no experience) and I am a seasoned fitness trainer that focuses on fat loss. My question is about the fitness website idea; are they oversaturated and would it be a good direction to go in?
Also, I need to write out my content and info for the website. Would this be better to do after purchasing site build it or before. The reason I ask is that it may take a long time for me to write an e book and content.
Thankss for your help everyone.

Hi 2fst4u,
Even though the fitness area is very competitive, it does not mean you cannot create a successful website. It depends on your approach, the specific target audience, and the kind of information you provide. If it is unique and targeted to a specific group, you may do very well.
Regarding your question about SBI... SBI helps you in the brainstorming process and narrowing your topic down, so I would definitely get SBI first, because it will help you with the research, which will help you put a unique spin on your content.
Welcome to Website Babble, by the way,
Sherif

Thanks sherif; that makes sense to get the SBI first. That way they can help in the process. Having an internet biz has been a dream of mine for a long time. I'm finnaly getting motivated and determined at this point to take steps to do it. Whats your experience with web based business been like?
Thanks for the welcome and advice

Hi 2fst4u,
Yes, as Sherif said, SBI will help you brainstorm and really narrow down your niche based on keyword supply and demand.
Since I have a site on fitness the one thing I can tell you is to make sure you really work on narrowing that niche. There are a lot of SBI fitness sites and I think often times the person's focus is too broad so they get lumped in with all the fitness sites.
So instead of doing something like "personal training" you could do something like "personal training for women" or "personal training for seniors". The more narrow, the better. And SBI! will actually help you see what kinds of keywords people are searching for.

It's the worst idea ever...just kidding
I'm a Fitness coach as well and planning one. The market is crowded but most of the sites are crap becuse they not targeted to a specific audience. Most are very general and the info is nothing you can't get in Shape or Mens Health.
There are some stars and a few on the forum have fitness related sites...they are or course, targeted
see you on Google

Hi
I would not hold back just because there are a lot of other sites out there.
SBI will teach you how/help you create a site that will be successful.
Be creative and good luck!

never too saturated
There were more webpages on the internet than people on the earth almost 10 years ago now. So don't be so worried about there being to much of anything on the internet, there is. Really this can be turned into a positive if you think of it like this: all the similar sites to yours are just potential link partners!
Health and Wellness will through eternity be one of the biggest marketing areas, so don't discount the validity of your idea, it is a good one.
If you are looking for way to get a site started p.m. me and I can show you some places to start getting web content out there for free or cheap, right away.
As far as your ebook, I would just sign up with google accounts and start writing a word doc with all the articles you put on your website. When you have enough you can simply save your document from google as a pdf file and viola!

Thanks for the advice. I checked out the google apps and one of your sites. It looks like an inexpensive way of getting started quickly. However from what I gathered so far, it seems like the only way to having a successful site is through a lot of time and effort with really quality content; no?

Yes Sir, you are correct, unless you are direct selling and using paid advertising there is no quick way to wealth online, gotta have money to make money sometimes. But, theres always the old fashioned way of working hard and getting paid properly for it.
Oh, about the google thing I was only talking about using it to create free pdf ebooks, you could sell these on ebay for cheap and use it to drive people for your site for....say a weekly newsletter on new fitness tips or some such, there are many ways ebooks can explode your website traffic. Sell it with resale rights and let others spread the word of your site for you, viral marketing is pretty cool if you get the ball rolling. I know that google apps does offer a web editor but I do not really think its that great.
Slow and steady does win the race, don't be confused about that you were correct.
