I have used Mac's and I am not really too impressed. It seems like there is a hassle when something goes wrong. You also have to go out of your way to download certain things. As I said before I use Vista and love it. I can't wait till I get my Windows 7 upgrade later on in the year. I have heard great things about it.

I've been using a Macbook for about six months at work and nothing ever does go wrong, so there's no need for me to be able to "fix it myself."

Of course, nothing really goes wrong with my Windows computers either.

OS are becoming all the same to me lately. I do 90% of my work in Firefox... which runs fine on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Windows on the other hand... can go onto any machine, which means billions, if not trillions, of different configurations and setups. Keeping up with all the different types of hardwares and setups has to be an overwhelming challenge, and I'm guessing, a nightmare for the engineers at Microsoft. The side-affect of this is a little more bloated operating system.

My in-laws have a Mac, and after playing with it for a little while, I think it's a great product, but not something for me. I don't like the idea where I can't fix my own problems without calling apple support.
Excellent points ... that why I said, in my opinion, though with that being said since Mac's now run Windows you get the best of both worlds and the suite of programs that come on a Mac is unmatched (and it all works - like you said Apple controls the entire thing, for the most part, which is good and their support is great), so unless the software you are needing to run is proprietary for Windows OS, I see no reason to run Windows - problems, virus's, crashes, etc. ... but again that's my opinions as I type this message on a Windows Workstation - duh!!!

Hey, it boils down to whatever works for you, even though you could probably count on one hand the number of people that have changed to a Mac and want to change back to a Windows based machine ...

Anyway the new Windows 7 OS from all accounts is the best OS Micorsoft has ever put out and that should be good news for the the all PC owners.

Whatever you are comfortable with is what you should use and if that is Vista, then it is not anyone else's place to say you should be using a different OS ... Good Luck!

Vista works well if used with RIGHT hardware. many of the problems that it faced during the initial period has been corrected with release of 2 service packs. But now I dont see the reason for going for either Vista or XP as Windows 7 has been released. It is fast and reliable. i have been using the RTM version for quite sometime now and i haven't has a problem with it.

I would have said vista but now I have Windows 7 so I'ma roll with them. IMO Vista was better then XP (minus the UAC) and Windows 7 is better then Vista. Noticeably much faster on my laptop. I love it!

Agreed I prefer XP over vista as well. I have an hp slimline with vista and I set it aside until I can install xp on it.

At the moment I'm using my emachines with xp.

XP all the way.

I use both but if i'm asked to stick with only one of them, then i will go with XP cause i derive more pleasure from it.
