Interesting, I will have to make a note and evaluate this soon. I guess they want some of the action. Thanks for the update

Could you explain it a bit more? Does that mean you can send wall comments to people through @name?

Cool, I'll go try it!

I don't see the purpose of status tagging though. I'm confused about why Facebook added this feature.

It's how facebook is competing with Twitter. Although I believe Facebook still has the edge. I know more people on Facebook that don't know what Twitter is, then people on Twitter that don't know what Facebook is.

Yes I think Facebook still has the edge but the talk for some time now is all about Twitter. There are marketing people and it is there job so in a half panic why wouldn't they try something to see if they can improve i guess.

That's true. I have heard of businesses using twitter for marketing. I have also heard of some people being turned off since twitter is being popularized by the famous. I use it to promote my blog posts and don't use it for much of a personal reason.

There is one problem that I see with twitter, however. Last month they went down from a denial of service attack, while Facebook was able to overcome such a thing. Twitter infrastructure is very vulnerable.

Now while it isn't difficult to build a better infrastructure, it will take money. I know that they are receiving money through other's investing in them, but how will they make money to continue? Facebook recently reported it's first profit quarter. Twitter will need to do the same to continue. Unless they can make money, they won't last too long, regardless of how many people are using the service. I'm thinking they may start offering advertising or such, unless it is already in the works.

Good point TechieGuy, I agree, twitter would be smart to launch an advertising program. Maybe, even a TwitterSense...lol
