NOD32 is an excellent option. It has stealth programming so that it operates in the background with minimal memory consumption for optimal pc performance =)

For me, I think as long as u can make sure that antivirus software can update from time to time, then it is really doesn't matter which u used.

All the above are great!

It seems to me that kaspersky is the best and most secure antivirus software.

About four months ago my computer started acting all wiggy and when I went to Google to search for some answers every time I typed the word "virus" I would be taken to a blank page. It took me about half a day to realize I was infected with a Trojan. At the time I was using AVG anti-virus, and according to the program it was up to date.

Well, I had to reformat my computer to get rid of the virus, and after the reformat I started researching other anti-virus options. Eventually, after reading a lot of reviews, I chose aVast Home.

What's great about aVast is that it's more thorough than AVG and it updates itself and shows a small pop-up window down by the clock in the taskbar to let you know. There is a a free version, which you can register the free version for a year and then after that year is up you can register it again.

I've been using aVast Home for the last four months and I am very satisfied with it. It doesn't slow my computer down and it catches those viruses so I don't have to reformat again to get rid of them. Another neat thing I discovered about aVast is that if you click to go visit a site and the site contains any malicious conscripts aVast will show a pop-window alerting you to it. You then have the option to "Abort" or "Continue".

Pretty cool, eh?

I have another program I use to scan for malicious malware called Malwarebytes. This program does an awesome job detecting malware on your computer even when the other programs miss them. You can get the free version here.

For anti-virus, I'm using AVG, been very happy with it so far but as a backup, I'll have to look into Avast. I do IT support for a living as well as help folks on the side and it would be good to have two anti-virus programs to use. For spy and malware, I 'swear' by Malwarebytes. I used it on the job for the past 7 months and it's great. One time I had a client whose IBM laptop would not boot up properly. I ended up taking the hard drive out, externally connected it to my desktop (this is at work) Malwarebytes detected the extra drive, found and deleted 7 infected files/entries off the drive. Once I put the hard drive back in the laptop, I was able to get to the clients OS and desktop and I ran Malwarebytes again just to make sure. Excellent program. I highly recommend it too!
