nah you dont download it. It streams to your computer. And, they dont host it on their site. It's hosted on other sites then you click on a mirror link. They have been up for a while so it must be. Also, they dont charge. And the ones that do charge come from iTunes and the such and you have to pay and they own rights etc.

It's illegal, I'm sorry to inform you, to download copyrighted material from the internet without paying the copyright holders for it, and then storing it on your computer.... and just because it has been up for a while makes no difference either... The Pirate Bay for example, has been up for a long time....

What are you talking about.... I said you do not download it. The stuff you do download you have to pay for from iTunes, etc.. Im sure they do not illegally sell you things. This is something a whooooole lot different than TPB. This is not torrents at all. Nothing gets stored on your computer. Before you start slashing my post with saying it's illegal, you should check out what it's all abou first.

Thank you.

Thank you.
A site that hosts TV shows, whether streaming or downloading, is illegal. Do you think that the producers of CSI would allow people to watch the show without somebody paying for it? Why would they make the show if they were willing for people to watch it for free? They wouldn't make any money.

I checked out the site. It provides links to stream the video (for free). I doubt many people visit this site to get a link to go to iTunes to download the video and pay money for it. If people were willing to pay for CSI shows, I think they would go straight to iTunes and download it rather than visit a site which provides link to free streams of the video. Or perhaps I'm just being cynical.

Default *sigh*

The shows are paid for. They are paid by ads hosted on the mirror sites. Some of the mirror sites require you complete ads before viewing. Some pay themselves. I guess if you wanted to realllly dig into this, you can go to all of the sites that stream and check their policy etc. And honestly what does it even matter? Unless you work for these tv stations and are trying to shut those websites down, what does it matter that I watch tv on my laptop to anyone. But like I said, surfthechannel is not illegal. It doesn't host anything. It links.

To go even further, the site is hosted in spain. Check their laws on this.

They even say this: This site does not host, provide, archive, store, distribute or purport to disseminate material or media of any kind, and acts merely as an index (or catalogue) of media posted by others outside of our control. (To prove a point).

Now to go even deeper, I can do this all night , they state this: SurfTheChannel takes matters of Intellectual Property very seriously and is committed to meeting the needs of content owners while helping them manage publication of their content online. It should be noted that SurfTheChannel is a simple search engine of videos available at a wide variety of third party websites.

Now if this is worth going into a law and order type of debate, let me know and I shall delve deeper into the pits of commercial rights and piracy laws.

But as of now, the site stands clear of all accusations. The mirror links I cannot guarentee. But that isn't what the post was originally about. The original post was strictly about surfthechannel.

Cheers!

Oh, that's OK so... they are only doing providing links to sites which (in my opinion) illegally host TV shows... There is nothing *wrong* with that

Nothing, you are just depriving hard working people of income in the middle of possibly the worst economic recession since the Depression... nothing *wrong* with that Except (personally) I prefer to pay for these things... perhaps I'm strange...
