Promoting Lisa's Website Youtube Videos on My New Blog

Hey there,

Haven't posted for quite sometime here now. Very busy. Good to be back.

I created a new blog in the week and added all Lisa's videos to my video tutorial section.

Look under website videos in categories

Lisa has good quality videos and she should get some traffic from there time to come.

Welcome back Lajocar,

Thank you for the free plug! I certainly appreciate it. Unfortunately though I have to put on my moderator hat and say that even though you are promoting my video, you are still creating a thread to tell people to look at your site. Not to mention I had to scroll all the way down to find the video so it makes me wonder why you didn't just link to the actual post with my video instead of the entire category. To me it sort of looks like you created a thread to plug your page (especially since you used a keyword-rich link). If that wasn't your intention then I apologize but this wouldn't be fair to everyone else if I left this thread alone just because you are promoting my video.

Hope you understand. I think it's only fair to everyone else. It sort of goes along with the last thread from dlbrown in The Content Corner. He thought his thread was OK 'cause he was offering something helpful. So then should I allow everyone who embeds my YouTube video in their blog to then create a thread to show their website as long as they are promoting my video? Not really fair to other members if I let this go.

That is a tough call Lisa, but I think you did the right thing. If you did allow people to do that then that would mean you'd have to amend the rules and say "You can create a thread to show off your site here as long as the thread is announcing my video." LOL!!!

You have to be consistent with your rules and be fair. Right call.

Lajocar, you are right. Lisa does deserve the free publicity and I think that's great you gave her some free promotion. But why not just email her on her website? Or why not just tell people what you did here without displaying the link to your site? And you didn't just link directly to the post with the video instead you sent people to a different landing page and told them how to navigate? See why it looks suspicious?

Lisa, I don't envy you running a forum. I used to think I wanted one but maybe I don't after seeing the stuff you have to regulate here. I just got here and have already seen what you and the moderators have to put up with. Wow.

Fixed the navigation in my blog.
Categories are now top. your videos are under website videos link.

I will add lots of my own videos as well as time goes on.+
