did you ever lose an idea
you know those great ideas you get when you're driving down town or just taking a walk, and you keep on building it and it seems so great that you can't wait to get home and start working on it, then suddenly something happens that makes you lose contact with your thoughts!!!
then it's over no matter how hard you try you never remember that great idea again, it's like waking up in the middle of a happy dream, just before you save Cinderella.
did any of you ever face that problem??

That happens to me very often. I also tend to get website ideas in my sleep, even one about creating a Youtube like site before Youtube was even online. I know there are also a few ideas I've forgotten about.. I wish I could remember them because so far I've never dreamed of a bad website idea.

LOL that happens to me a lot of times when I'm laying down to go to sleep. I think of something really good and then wake up the next day and forgot what the idea was. Should probably start writing it down as soon as i think of it or something.

Absolutely! I've had to start keeping a pen and paper by my bed 'cause I tend to think of things right before I drift off to sleep and I never remember when I wake up. When I was still working my 9 to 5, I would keep a Notepad file on my computer where I would jot down things I wanted to work on when I got home.

That happens to me al the time. Now, if I get a good idea I think about it all the time including all the details and how to expand it. It helps me to get a good layout in my mind of how I want it to look, and it also drills the idea in my mind so I don't forget. I probably should get a little notebook to write all my thoughts in so if it is too outrageous or if it is not in my ablity to currently do I can save it for later.

train your mind
You can train your subconscious mind to retrieve information like this. With practice it is really powerful.
Concentrate with determination on what you want to recall for just a minute. "Tell" you mind that you want it to retrieve the information. Then purposefully turn your mind elsewhere and wait. Soon, out of the blue it will just pop into your mind.
If you have not trained your subconscious to work for you like this it may seem strange and take a while to cultivate effectively but it can be done and is a truly dynamic power.

I hate it when I lose my good ideas or inventions. I use my cell phone now to record my thought as soon as I think about it. You might check your phone to see if you have that same feature. It's called quick record on my phone. Works like a charm.

I do this all the time! Then I can't stop thinking about trying to recover whatever it was I was thinking about! I actually think it has led to me coming up with another (orginal) idea.

well until now the best solution is james'.
what he said was:

and I don't know if he knows it or not but that is "NLP" Neuro Linguistic Programming which is simply a way to control your mind and your reactions and a method to gain control over parts of your sub-concious mind.

that does work - unfortunately for me when it "pops" into my mind I tend to forget it again as quick also my 6 year old is going through the "who? what? when? where? why and how? stage, so I'm lucky to remember anything!
