    Default Networking

I know that networking with like-minded internet entrepreneurs has many benefits, but it's not something that comes naturally to me. So I was wondering if anyone here has any tips to share.

What mediums are the best? Warrior Forum, Skype, Facebook? I don't really have a lot of experience with any of them, so some tips on how to use them effectively would be great.

Obviously Website Babble is a great forum too, and I've found a lot of cool people here, but then how do you go from simply asking and answering questions to actually building a proper relationship with people? Same goes for commenting on people's blogs.

I'd love to attend a live event, but I live in a small-ish city and I doubt there'd be any events near me. I guess there's not much I can do about that - so online networking is really the only option for me.

Is everyone else as clueless about this as I am?

Sadly yes, it is your only option. And as far as blog commenting and answering people's questions on forums is concerned, it does help in building relations online, I have experienced this myself, so you can consider it to be effective.

    Hi Charles

To be honest, I wasn't much into social media until the last year or so. I mean I've had a presence there for awhile but I wasn't utilizing it as best as I could. But I can tell you that the simple things work well like following people who have similar sites as yours and commenting, re-sharing their blog posts and even making small talk.

Here's an example. I will never forget once that I replied to someone on Twitter and told them how much I loved their Avatar. That was my introduction. To this day, he still shares my posts on the regular -- but that compliment was what started it all. I can think of several occasions where I've made connections with people just from little small talk on social media.

People love it when you take time to reply to their posts/tweets or go the extra mile to give them a shout out. Don't overwhelm yourself and feel you have to do a whole bunch at once. Just do the little things.

Hi, I'm jennifer. What happened to the "success story" thread? That was the one I visited whenever there was something new. I just comment and almost push myself into some conversations on line after I've read, followed and decide that's the community for me. I can only think of two hot potatoe bloggers that didn't eventually respond to me. And I go out of my way to avoid reading anything they write. So, that's my answer to how I network. When they are talking over my head about HTML or 7,000 posts needing attention, I know how to be quiet. But they still let me in the conversation. You just got to know when to listen and be sincere and polite.

I agree that little things you do for others go a long way to building social clout with others in your niche. Do not think of it as a bag of tricks. Be sincere. Those minor nuances is the glue that holds people together.

When I post answers to questions that people have, I often invite them to email me so the conversation can continue there as well.

One network That I would say is VERY important is the Google+, so be sure to use it!! It has weight in your google rankings and especially with personalized searches. Here is a post I made a while back in the seo section with a vid explaining how to rank for personalized searches http://www.websitebabble.com/search-...ed-search.html

Also use google hangouts. Not a lot of people using them to their full potential, the google hangouts will out rank YouTube videos. Kinda getting off the topic here but just dont forget the big G!!
