Default cars

thought I read somewhere Ford has purchased a patent of the first flying car for 2010-12.

Anyway, did you all hear about the massive protest truckers are making demanding lower gas prices?!

Default Where?

Are they holding that protest in China or India? And how far are they going to get telling people who are riding bikes or walking that they need to give up their dream of owning a car so we can have two cars, even SUV's, for every family?

OR are they like our congress, just going to yell at the oil companies instead of developing a real solution—like finding a way to develop anternative sources of energy.

So what am I going to do about the high price of gasoline? Stay at home and work on my web sites. Let's see, where was I? Oh yeah. Content. Writing and Marketing. Content. Writing and Marketing. Content Writ............

Cannot agree more! What's also scary to me are some of the potential solutions generated by some of the presidential candidates of taking away some of the oil companies' profits... how will that solve anything? Ultimately, this will only hurt us even more... but what do I know?

Default What do you know? Quite a lot in my opinion.

Sherif,

Since the oil companies are really owned by stock holders and the stock holders are those who own stocks, primarily mutual funds, what confiscating oil company profits would really do is take funds out of our pension and IRAs more than anything else.

As written previously, the only answer is nothing other than solving the energy need with alternative sources. But of course that requires, to use an expression from my grandparents generation, the ability to see beyond the end of our nose.

Post Where?

Think it's more of a sit-in or strike right here in the states. Guess that means more inflation...

We should look more into the Sun. On first thought you might think cloudy days will kill that. But ever wonder why the sky is still illuminated?

Night fall? Ever notice that brown tinge around the edges of the sky? Thats the weakest form of Aura Borealis(Most powerful at the poles).

Constantly, our planet is bombarded with solar wind. Earth is sheltered by an electromagnetic field. The reaction sets off a light tinge in the Tropics and mid-latitudes...And a spectacular light show the closer you get near the Polar zones.

If we could just harness all that energy, we'd be set for life. Not to mention all the oil conglomerates would go out of business.

I imagine one of two things will bring gas prices down.

One: Demand will plummet. So far, no one has been gungho about alternative energy--not really. If somone got on it and got something done fast and now, I imagine alternative energy such as solar, wind, and electric cars, will force gas prices way down since no one really needs it much after that.

Two: Rioting.

I envy my relatives in China. Their fuel is pretty cheap according to my cousin, therefore all the food/most of the goods are cheap.

On the contrary, rising fuel prices mean...rising {inserteverythingelsehere} prices in the UK

Our gas price is going up again.

The next logical thing to do is to drive less.

There was a truckers protest in Cornwall, UK causing disruption to a a lot of people as all the tourists were trying to get home. There were over 300 lorries there causing congestion on the roads. Not good! But at least there making a point.

Oooh, do any of you remember a few years back in the UK when the petrol suddenly went up and people REFUSED to drive? Parents wouldn't drive their kids to school (for the kids that go to schools far away), people wouldn't drive to work, etc. I was about 6/7 at that time so I didn't really kow much about it, but I bet even that gas price wasn't as high as it is now.

Right now, prices in Europe are even higher than they are in the US.

Refused to drive? Oh dear, I wouldn't have been able to get to school at all Dx

I just saw on the news today,

Gas in the UK averaged $8.85 a gallon

Gas in the Netherlands averaged $9.95 a gallon

Gas in Saudi Arabia averaged $0.45 a gallon

Gas in Iran averaged $0.40 a gallon

Yes people the last two are cents. Does anyone remember when gas went for cents a gallon in the US? I remember is $0.59 a gallon.

I also remember the gas crisis in the 70's I was a little kid then but I remember my parents going to the pumps on odd or even days. They would go by the numbers on your license. I don't remember what people who had names instead of number on their license did.

The whole world went though that crises and Brazil did something about it. It took them three decades but they are no longer depended on other countries for their fuel. They use ethanol which is made from sugar cane to fuel their cars. Of course the price of sugar cane has gone up but the fuel that's produced from it cost about a third to half the price of gasoline.

More Then 80% of new 'flexible fuel' cars sold in Brazil are equipped to use ethanol, gasoline or a mixture of both.

Also I just saw on the news today where Honda has finally come out with it's FCX hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicle (FCV). You can check it out here.

http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity/

They are selling them in California this summer and there is an actress who is going to get one of the first ones out of the factory, sorry I can't recall her name.

I don't know why but they're only leasing them for now for $600 dollars a month. Don't ask how anyone who purchases one is going to fuel it. One of the guys from Honda said when cars were first made there were no gas stations around so they're not worried about that. Although I think whoever leases one may be.

I think they look really cool and I want one.

Default No end in sight

Personally, I don't see a decrease in the gas prices, they're just going to continue to get higher and higher, just like everything else is. I"ve just been driving less with my suv. My scooter should be coming in early next week and I will be scooting in town with it.

I was watching CNN this morning and now they're reporting that the price of corn is going to go up now. Those dear folks in Iowa with the flooding are already feeling the effects already since there are lot of farmers in that state. When one area feels it, it spreads, domino effect-
