chouchou,

Go to Start > Control Panel > Power Options

and through one of the options there, you should be able to turn off hibernation.

Are you sure it's hibernating and not just going on Stand-by? Turn off the Stand-by features also, which you can also do from "Power Options".

So, if you want your computer to be ON all the time, then turn off both hibernation and Standby.

In my experience, Windows can by funny about that... i.e. even though you tell it not to hibernate, it still does, or if you tell it not to turn the monitor off, sometimes it still does... so let me know if you are still having problems with this.

Default Still hibernating?

Are you still having an issue? Make sure you click on the hibernation tab in the Power Options section of your Control and make sure that button is UN-checked. Then choose Apply and then OK.

Another thought, via the Power Options chose on the Power Schemes tab, make sure the System Standby is set to Never.

Let us know if you're still having problems.

Hey ChouChou,

Are you making sure you are clicking on "apply" after you change the settings? If you just click "ok" it will not save the settings you've changed.

Hope that helps.

Default Bios setting maybe.....

What kind of computer do you have? I'm wondering if there is something that needs to be set in the BIOS. Have you checked there? And I'm also curious to know when does the computer hibernate? After 5, 10 minutes? How much time passes when it hibernates?

Default Laptop Question

You said that your laptop is about four years but I asked you before what kind of laptop is it? Dell, Toshiba, IBM? HP?
