Ideas Please????
Hey babblers,
As you can see in this forum, my previous contests have been trivia related but I'd like to run more contests around web design/development since that's what this forum is mainly for. I have not forgotten about the logo design contest. I still plan to have that, however I would love to have more ideas from you. What kinds of web related contests could I have here in this forum? I've been thinking about this a lot but can't come up with anything.
I've often thought of having some sort of design contest and having other members vote but that is probably a flawed system due to potential abuse (people creating fake accounts to vote for themselves, etc.) Plus if you enter the contest yourself then why would you vote on someone else's entry?
Ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmmm... that's worth considering. Although I guess I need to make a decision 'cause if I don't, people won't post ideas here 'cause they'll save them for the contest.

Hold the phones!! I do have an idea.
How about the Website Babble e-book, it could cover everything that someone would need to know to get a site up and running on their own? For example a chapter on Graphics should cover specifics like header graphics and using Photoshop, The Gimp and others, design bascis etc. Each chapter could be a contest.

How about having a mascot contest. It maybe kind of cool to have a named mascot around here. It would add "character" to the site.

It's funny that you should ask that because when I redesigned this forum header last winter I was trying to come up with a cartoon character to stand next to the logo but I couldn't come up with anything. I'm assuming you mean have someone draw it in a graphics program? The only problem is I'm not sure how many people would qualify.

It's not to do with web development but I wanted to tell you it anyway. A competition where you have to post the lowest number possible but it can't be a duplicate. For example if someone posts 10 and loads post 1 then 10 wins. Got it from my local radio station

Hey Lisa, I was thinking about that, and I have a few Ideas about the flawed system you mentioned...
to avoid people creating false accounts to vote for themselves, you could count votes of members that have more then 50 posts, or members longer then a month maybe, because anybody would be too lazy to make an account and post 50 new posts just to add one vote to himself.
and about voting on someone else's entry you can say that everybody has to vote either for someone else or you can say each member has to vote 2 votes so if he votes for him/herself there would still be another vote for someone else...
