Default Wordpress 2.8.4 Running Slow

I have flashed up a few new blogs and thought I would try the latest wordpress version when setting up, although wordpress admin has been painfully slow although surfing and my interent speed in general are fine.

Have been hearing a lot of people are having problems with the latest wordpress although it seems a bit co-incidental that all those or at least most are using Bluehost for hosting.

I sent bluehost an email and they suggested I repair and optimize my databases although I'm thinking maybe Bluehost are spreading their services too thin.

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the latest version of wordpress running insanely slow and if you are who is your host.

If it turns out to be Bluehost I will knock things on the head with them and go with hostgator as I havn't one thing bad about them.

Bluehost might be overloading their servers and having PHP speed issues. You can try installing some caching plugins to help make Wordpress faster. This is a good thing to do even if you're on a fast server.

I am on BlueHost and haven't had any issues with 2.8.4. In fact, I was just thinking this morning how fast it seems today.

As Jonathan mentioned, are you using any caching plugins? Did you optimize your database? Do you use a lot of plugins?

Default Overloading servers

I think your right on Jonathon, I have tried everything from my end to make sure that I'm not whingeing to Bluehost when I am at fault, though I think they have just spread their hardware too thin for their services.

I even did a traceroute to my domain name and it came up fine, nothing slowing things down anywhere before bluehost.

Although I just got an email back from Bluehost asking me if my hosting is still really slow, its as if they know that they have to take some load off of some of their servers and bring in some new ones to share the load a bit more but are scared to admit it openly.

I really feel like tech support at Bluehost is a bit amatuerish, I would much rather them be straight up with me and tell me that their upgrading their network rather than get me to try all manner of things when they know it won't make any difference.

Anyway my hosting is starting to come good since yesterday morning although I think I will be switching to hostgator in the future, hostgator seems to have very few if any unsatisfied customers unlike Bluehost which have an army of frustrated customers laying the dirt on Bluehost in the forums at the moment, all complaining about server speed.

For anyone looking for hosting, I think hostgator is the safe bet!

Default I agree

I have Bluehost and WP is running terribly slow. It is impossible to update. I hope whatever the problem is gets resolved quickly.

You may use serverpoint company as their servers are fast and low cost.
They are fully redundant, scalable and well-supported.
The second month free they offer.
