Well, if you require less amount of disk space and bandwidth then you can consider a shared hosting package with a reliable hosting provider. However, I don't think you will find a hosting package for $5 per year with a reliable hosting provider and hence I would suggest you to increase your budget.

However, if it is not possible for you to increase your budget or you do not wish to do this for some reason, you can search for a hosting provider which offers this kind of package for this amount

no ones seems to mention google sites in any of these threads, is it a bad decision to use google sites to build a wedsite?

Lift your budget a little bit to get some cheap hosting company. Please tell me how far can you afford.

The price of the hosting package you choose will also depend on the hosting platform you would prefer. If you choose Windows hosting platform for your hosting package, you will have to pay higher price for it as Windows is a 3rd party application and it requires licensing fee.

However, as you only need PHP 5.x supported on the website, Linux hosting platform should be fine for you as PHP 5.x is supported on Linux and hence I would suggest you to choose a Linux hosting package.

Think that you should increase your budget in order to deal with reliable company. I have seen that serverpoint.com offered really good web hosting plans and has nice reputation in the web hosting services market.
Cheap is not good, but good is not cheap.
As for me, this company offers affordable plans, so take your time to contact them.

try www.godaddy.com they are a very good company that offers verry good prices.

Hqhost company has offered cheap hosting services.
Try them.

$5 per year... so cheap and will not get from reliable host.. at least have to pay around 10-15 $ .. better check with dotster and godaddy.. may find some cheap plan in Linux

I agree with everyone else I don't think you will find good hosting based in the USA for $5.00 a year. I personally have some blogs hosted at Hawk Host and they charge $3.99 per month for their basic hosting package. I have never had any problems but then again all I have hosted with them are a couple of blogs with limited traffic and bandwidth use. This is one of the better prices that I have seen.
