Default Websitepalace or Hostgator for your blog

Hi everyone

This is my first post, I have few questions about web hosting. I want to set up a blog with wordpress, I want to host it on my own domain name.
I've been watching Lisa's videos, the one on how to set up your blog using websitepalace. It seems very simple to instal wordpress on websitepalace.

( 1 ) Does anyone know if it's simple to install your blog on hostgator? I noticed hostgator is little bit more expensive then websitepalace but hostgator has a great customer support which is a big plus for me.

( 2 ) For Wordpress blog, where do I go to create a account is it wordpress com or org. I think it's wordpress org but I want to double check with you guys.

( 3 ) Once I create my account in wordpress do I need to do anything: for example tell wordpress that I want to host it on my own domain name...

( 4 ) Finally who is better in your mind hostgator or websitepalace, I've noticed websitepalace looks almost exactly as godaddy.

Thank you everyone in advance for your advice

Default websitepalace seems like it should work

I had never heard of websitepalace until your post. I checked out their plans and it actually provides more than my current host at half the price. I may have to try them out myself.

I don't know much about wordpress but I see that websitepalace supports wordpress blogs even in their economy plan. I am sure they would be OK but you should wait to hear what others say.

Website Palace is just my reseller store so I earn a commission. If you sign up with a regular hosting plan you just login to your account and choose to install WordPress right from the "User Applications" tab. Assuming your hosting account is already linked up with your domain then it will just install WordPress right on the domain. If you want it to go in a folder (blog.yourdomain.com) you'll have to create that folder and instruct it.

It will automatically be the WordPress.org version (which is the one you want if you want full control). You don't need to go to WordPress' site separately to sign up. It can all be done through your control panel.

Host Gator is just excellent. I have recently switched over to them and have not regretted it one bit. Like Lisa, I promote them as well.

1) Yes it is very simple. You simply login to your control panel and scroll down to 'products/services' and you will see an icon named 'Fantastico De Luxe'. Click on that icon and it will take you to a new page with lots of scripts you can install with minimal effort. You will see Wordpress under 'blogs', click on that and then new install. It will ask you for some information such as where you would like to install Wordpress (Either example.com, example.com/wordpress or wordpress.example.com). This is also where you decide what your username and password will be.

2) You create the username and password in Fantastico (if you go with HostGator).

3) Nope, once wordpress is installed on your hosting account it should work fine. But you will have to login to your domain control panel and change the 'nameservers' to those given to you by your hosting account. You will normaly get these in your welcome email. It will be something like ns1.yourhost.com

4) I have never used WebsitePalace before but I have heard some great things about them. I use HostGator now and they are fantastic, support is 10/10.

I created a hosting account to test a few things on and I will be deleting it at some point. If you would like to see what the control panel for HostGator is like just pm me and I will send you the login details so you can take a look. You can even install Wordpress on it if you like because im only going to be deleting it after you have tested it.
