If you search for "free web hosting", you'll find tons of sites providing that kind of service. However, don't expect high quality hosting. Your site may down for a day to a week.

Very true and you may be bombarded with ads on your site and you will get a anoying domain name. Hosting is really cheap these days ($5 and under) per month for basic hosting. If your really serious you should think about investing in this.

Free Hosting
Free hosting is available, however it is not a great idea...There are a lot of downsides to it, such as the names available, and lack of control over the ads placed on your site, etc...I think you would be wise to pay for the hosting...It is not that expensive at this time...William Wilson

Yeah you can get shared hosting anywhere from $2-$20 a month, really not much for what you get.

I have had webs.com for about a year. I have tried a handful of others , some even with CPanel, but they don't work very well.

free hosting
I've been using a free host for about a year now (000webhost.com) and I'm really happy with them. They don't force you to display ads or anything and they have something like 99.5% uptime. Really good service to say it's free.

I gave 000webhost.com a shot and tried a Wordpress setup... what a joke... worst hosting I've ever seen... they were constantly down... always having database issues if it worked at all... and support (if you want to call it that) was horrendous... what a nightmare... dumped them real quick...
You're the FIRST person I've come across that hasn't complained about them!
Hope you luck holds out...
