You're the FIRST person I've come across that hasn't complained about them!
Hope you luck holds out...

Yeah I don't blame you for switching to a new host after those issues, I'd have probably done the same. So far my blog and website (both hosted on 000webhost) have only had minimal problems like the occasional database hang, (has only happened once or twice). So I suppose I can't really complain, bearing in mind that the service is free.
As for the support, I don't think they really provide support to free customers and instead direct them to the forums. I've managed to solve a couple of issues by posting on the forums and actually got a response from 000webhost themselves for one of my problems, although I must admit, their response was in no way helpful lol.
All in all I'm happy to stick with them for the time being until my website grows to a point where it will be worthwhile to get some decent hosting.
Thanks for your post lkpub

Yeah you're probably right there, but tell me, what can paid hosting provide for me at the moment that I'm not getting from my current host?

Thats really nice to hear your happy with them. But if you used a paid host with a real domain search engines will index your site and it will look like your serious so really it would be faster to start on paid hosting.

A reliable service, more freedom (disk space, bandwidth, no ads) SUPPORT this is the biggest reason its free there is no support. Search engines will only take a site seriously on paid hosting and real domain. One of the biggest is that visitors don't take a site on a free host seriously.

I rank top in google for my keywords with my free host, so that isn't an issue. I'm sure support would be great to have available 24/7 and that's probably the main reason that I'd upgrade to paid hosting. Also the disk space and bandwidth advantages could be necessary at some point.
As for the point you make about visitors not taking the site seriously, as far as I can tell, my visitors cannot tell that I am using a free webhost without doing some digging through whois lookups to see which nameservers the site uses.

Oh sorry I'm using my own domain, I should have made that clearer! Yeah I can see what you were getting at now, obviously if my website was located at something like myname.000webhost.com or something it would look bad and probably be quite bad for my search engine rankings etc.

Ahh yeah that makes sense lol. Yeah I agree then not a problem at all as long as they don't display ads and your site is never offline.
But paid hosting is always better but yeh I agree you may as well use them untill you need to upgrade.

There's another free hosting company that I would recommend. It's called Weebly.
I have one site with them. Never had any problems. You get a subdomain for free, and you can buy domains through them, so it's very straightforward.
It's so easy to use. Templates are all there. And there's a blogging tool also.
The templates look kind of basic, but are still sleek and appealing.
Wish I'd discovered them earlier. Would have saved a bit of money if I had.

Actually it does not affect your search engine rankings at all. Im surprised how many people don't know this. Here is an excerpt from an article on subdomains and seo:
"Subdomains rank just as well as regular domains. Having a subdomain doesn't decrease your chances of ranking on search engines. You'll just have to treat each subdomain as a new, individual site. This means work on building PR and links. As with any domain, you don't get a free ride."
So even though the url might not look good, you have the same chances with search engines as with any other domain name.
