I had been waiting for the credit back from Host Gator, before I chose another host. I haven't done it yet, but looking at PowWeb first, and probably look over a few more. I am going to search for a smaller company with fewer customers, but whom have their own servers..Will also be looking at customer satisfaction reviews.
i found a great smaller service that I adore - betterwebspace - they don't have an affiliate program, but they have incredible service and support. I am however looking for more space than I purchased from them, as once I finish moving all of my 'small' sites over, I'll be w/out space to grow.
I'm going to be finding a new hosting company along w/ this, and I'll be putting related sites on opposite servers, and linking together. We'll see how they work out.
I tried it briefly but wasn't too impressed...I do know that a lot of folks here have it and like it....They are highly regarded and though I dumped them, I did receive a response from their CEO, asking if he could help. Tech was so, so on several issues and wasn't too happy with them, but that can happen with most any hosting company.
i have a major issue w/ hostgator. they robbed me of my signature domain. i registered it for 5 years and they conveniently have 'no record' of the purchase. If you register w/ them, do not register a domain, they will sell it from below your feet.
oh! this is so terrible! i have some domains with them too but so far i haven't had any bad experience with them. i hope they'll not do anything bad with my stuffs. now i am so sad and worried..

That's a common problem with a lot of hosting providers... and you usually don't find out until you try to transfer the domain...
I personally always register my domain names and my clients domain names separately and just point the name servers... My preference is MyDomain.com but there are other domain name registrars out there that are probably just as good... I just happen to like MyDomain and have never had a problem with them... If you have a lot of domain names having a separate registrar account makes it much easier to control and maintain...
