Default Register.com - is it any good?

Has anyone used register.com for their domain and hosting, if so can anyone give me any information on this service as their site looks good to me.

I am planning a large very comprehensive site with hundreds of pages, pictures, video, blog and much more ??

Register.com was one of the very first domain registrars. I remember a time when Network Solutions and Register were the only 2 places you could go to get domains but aren't their prices kinda high? Last I checked their domains were $30/year. But I would definitely say they are a reputable company.

Lisa,

I am reading the same about Register.com’s high prices by searching reviews online, but they have great customer service. As for hosting I read many bad things about Godaddy and learned to avoid them at all costs.

The number #1 rated hosting is from a company called Startlogic and they seem to be really good. I am trying to decide where to get my domain name and where to host, of I should do both at the same place.

I think I am going to give in and simply pay someone to create my website and get it up and running, then teach me how to do it from there.

I went to Google and entered reviews Godaddy and found a page with so many negative remarks and stories about go daddy that after just 15 minutes of reading I decided I would never use them or recommend them, but I am still not sure who or what service to go with.

Default Don't forget!

One thing for new web folks to know is that like many other products, web host reviews online are especially undependable. Even worse, they are quite skewed.

The last time I looked, I easily determined that there were a number of web hosts who were included on many sites. Not all were on every list. One or two rotated off and others on from list to list. And the orders were slightly different. But the overall affect was to give the impression that these were the top ten or so hosts out there.

What I eventually learned was that the largest and most respected hosts were not on those lists at all. These recommended site lists are not really legitimate reviews, they are sales presentations with affiliate links.

If the phrase, "buyer beware," ever applied anywhere it applies here.

Default Help..

Who do you recommend for hosting in your experience and why? Maybe you could make a top five list and explain why you picked each.

This has become an issue with me trying to find the right host and determine what services to use.

Default Request your input

I wonder then if everyone who reads this post could list their top three host providers in order of the best being on the top of the list. This would help me narrow my decision. Thanks
