I just conducted my own unofficial rating of the top ten webhosts. What I did was google top ten web host listings, compare the ratings then average them out. Again, it's unofficial, depending on your own needs, but this is the first step I take in comparing apples to oranges. (BTW, this is just a top 6 list).

Afterwards, I review all the their sites then determine what my needs are.

1. Hostmonster: My Rating 3.2
2. Just Host: My Rating 3.8
3. Bluehost: My Rating 3.8
4. Host Gator: My Rating 5.375
5. IXWeb: My Rating 4.875
6. Dreamhost (Found only one rating)

Of course a lot of other factors determine which host one should use. Such things as cost, bandwith, domain, sub-domain, CPanel, on and on. One may even have one they like that isn't on the top ten. For example, I had Startlogic a few years back and had no problems.
