WebSite Builder through GoDaddy
I talked to a representative of GoDaddy today as I had a question regarding payment of the service if I got it. I know how everyone talks good about GoDaddy and that is why I chose them first. However after finding out what I needed to know he tried to sell me on using Website Builder through godaddy instead of wordpress? I understand the importance of making the sell. My question is has anyone used this service? Also is there a hosting company that offers the option of paying by the month?
I don't know why they would lean toward the builder unless there was something you said that made them think it would be best. They make the same amount of money if you go with WordPress or the Builder so it's not a money thing. You might as well go with their "WordPress Hosting" and create your site with WordPress. I think the plans are about the same right?
confusion solved i guess
I did not tell him anything outside of what the site would be about and he asked what would I be using to build the site. I said WordPress and that's when he suggested the website builder. The plans are 1.99 for a year and 3.99 a month for 3 months. He said something else too but I was lost at that point.... Do all hosts go on a schedule like that or are there ones that go month by month?
As a full time website builder, I can tell you that if you build a website using online inexpensive do-it-yourself tools that in about 2-3 years, you'll be calling someone like me. 80% of my business is rebuilding existing sites. Unless you understand how the system work and have a decent graphics background, it is not as simple as the simple system appears.
I would advise using Wordpress because it is easy and looks pretty decent without having to be a building expert. Plus, is you decide on a website later it is easy to move your entire wordpress into a website footer transferring all its SEO to the website.
A specially of mine is using the RSS feeds from Wordpress as teases to your own home page of your website. By customizing the wordpress sitemap builder it can cover your website and wordpress at the same time.
Start with Wordpress and grow from there. It will be more affordable, more effective and allow for better upgrading later. Plus, if it is easy to update and maintain, you are more likely to do so.
On a side note, Godaddy has been great to work with. It still depends upon who you speak to as well. Because I spend a lot of money on behalf of clients for Godaddy and Google, I am fortunate to have an assigned rep that I have gotten to know with each.
Many hosts now give you a better deal if you pay for more months in advance so this is common.

Having said that, I wouldn't recommend using the Godaddy website builder. I've accessed it before and it's OK but there are better options for website builders if you don't have the confidence to try out Wordpress.
I'm a fan of Wordpress. I use it and recommend it but I know some people want a simple drag and drop website builder that has zero learning curve.
To answer your payment question, most hosts and website builders give discounts for paying per year but all of them should allow you to pay monthly.
