Exclamation How do I use a domain name from Godaddy in Hostgator?

Hi people,

I bought a domain name from Godaddy but would like to use Hostgator. I just tried placing an order with Hostgator and chose the option of already having a domain name and would update my nameserver only. The thing now is that I do not know what that means. How can I use the domain name in Hostgator?

And Hosgator says we can host an unlimited no of domain names..........does that mean the domain names are free or does one have to pay for them too.

Is Hostgator beginner friendly?

Thanks people.

When you signed up for hosting at hostgator you should have got a email with dns name server you log in your go daddy account and find where you can change name server replace it with dns nameserver you got from hostgator.

It will take few hours to propagate your domian name to new server.

You have to buy domain names and use them as addon domain name in your account and you need to change name server for each domain name unless you buy it from hostgator.

Yes I use hostgator and have not had any problems yet.

I use hostgator too and haven't had any problems.

You still need to buy the additional domain names from godaddy or wherever you buy them. Then from there you setup the additional domains in your Hostgator control panel.

So let's say you buy another domain called mysite.com You would create a folder in your hostgator account called mysite and store all the content there. Now when you go to mysite.com hostgator will redirect to that folder and display the info. It's really easy to setup once you get familiar with the hostgator control panel.

Question

Doesn't some of their hosting packages come with 10 free domains. In addition to the unlimited option?

Or am I getting it confused with another host?
