BlueHost vs Hostgator
Hiya people,
I know Hostgator's highly favoured here but I'd like to know if anyone has ever or is using BlueHost and what the reviews are like compared to Hostgator.

I have never used either personally but I have heard good things of both. You may do some searches in google to find about the companies, but usually you will only find articles of the 1 in a million customers who are irate and ranting there, not people praising the good service.

I can't say anything about bluehost but I've heard they are pretty solid. Same owner as hostmonster just so you know.
I have been hosting with Hostgator for over 2 years now and am very happy. I have a reseller account with them. The service was good when i signed up but it is so much better since they upgraded their servers about a year ago. The speed is great. Support is good (but don't count on their live chat for much help beyond very basic stuff). Overall i can't complain with the service from HostGator.
That said you probably can't go wrong with bluehost either if you are leaning that way. I've not read anything hugely negative about them.
web hosting talk has a lot of people posting their experiences on web hosts, and as nixwebo said, people will post negative reviews more often then positive ones (which is unfortunate really) so yes you will always find someone who has a major complaint about a host and perhaps has gone to great lengths to detail their horrendous experience on a website. These people are usually ones that violated their terms of service anyway and probably needed a dedicated server or VPS to begin with.
cheers

I've been using Bluehost for 3 years now, they have great service actually and customer support, but there are times that I can encounter bad live chat staff like as if they don't want to help long term customers. And these weeks, I've been experiencing cpu loads that make my sites down.

If you want 10 gigs, a forum, blog, and much more add on scripts for free, try Web Hosting Pad. I can get you 3 years for 120 dollars if you use this link and type in my coupon code "savenow" here is the link www.webhostingpad.com/1399.html. This web host is fast, has many free features, but best of all, their customer service is amazing. They helped me with anything and everything! Btw...it's cheap!

I have just signed up with BlueHost. I don't think you can go wrong with either BlueHost or HostGator.

Thanks people
Have just signed up with Hostgator. Still attracted to bluehost though. Read an article on how to create niche sites with bluehost and felt it'll be worth the while trying it out. Yet again I dunno if one can do the same with hostgator.

web hosts have nothing to do with niches or content... all they do is give you webspace and a domain that u pick. you create the content

That's true. However, some web hosts have specific capabilities that other web hosts don't. So before one signs up, he/she should verify that the web host provides the necessary tools to build the desired website.

oooh you meant that like Fantastico
if the Web Host has cPanel, then its most likely that they have the tools like a Blog, Forum, e-commerce, wiki, alll ready to go with a click of a button to install

Hey,
Well Ive heard great things about both hosts but ive heard more bad things about bluehost, I heard they over sell a lot more then hostgator. Iam about to purchase a HostGator reseller for a webhosting business, if you buy a reseller it comes with really good scripts (if you want to buy the same scripts its around 15/month and its a pretty good deal. But I dont want to turn you off BlueHost just never ever ever Use Startlogic there service is really really bad I encounted 5 or so problems in the first week that i waited 3 weeks to be fixed and they werent then I wanted my money back and it took them 2 months to give it back .
Iam using Kevhosting.com i personally know the guy he gave me $50 of a plan the plans dont look flash hot but he dasnt over sell so its a lot less chance of your site going down or your website deleted because your overloading there servers (Happens a lot with hosts that oversell to much). But iam about to buy a hosting plan from hostgator as i mentioned before.
Cheers
Cody
