I am currently trying to help someone set up a website and they are with hostgator, thing is im not sure if the domain is set up properly as it is parked with Godaddy. I have never used Hostgator so Im not sure how I can make sure its all set up properly. I have had a look in the hostgator help and it said it can take some time to set up but I am not sure
What I am asking is:
Can I make sure the domain is set up right in the hostgator account? If I go to sub domains it says I can set one up but I can't see how its still parked at Godaddy
The domain name will always be at godaddy as it was bought there you need to change DNS the name server at godaddy to point to hostgator server.
You shoud have received a welcome email from hostgator that will have the name server DNS
they say that it takes 24 to 48 hours to propagate once dns is changed.
I didn't think of checking who.is good idea, looks like the name servers have not been changed, I will have to email the guy and see if I can get his Godaddy details and change it or guide him through it.
I have never used hostgator as all my sites are at godaddy so I was unsure.
One more thing, the name servers only take a couple of hours is that correct? I want to get it up and running quick

It takes a few hours atmost. However usually it takes a few minutes.
