Default 1and1 domain names

Hello guys,

I have a question:
If I do buy a domain name in my cpanel, I pay for one year.
When domain expires, will 1and1 ask me if I want to renew the domain or it will automatically buy it for one more year.

There are some domains I won't need next year, so I wanna make sure I will be prepared to not buy it (you know auto-buy techniques).

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Default You have options.

Jan,

Naturally you have the options but you need to check out with your host to see their procedure. With my host when I go to the panel I have a nav button for "manage domains." Going there I have a checkoff for each domain for whatever choice I want: cancel when expired, ask me, or renew automatically.

In any case, my host (Dreamhost) always send me notices about one month ahead of time to remind me of what is happening. Also, for my own peace of mind I put renewal dates for my important sites on my personal calendar. Losing your domain name would be worse than being late on a credit card payment, right! At least if someone else grabbed your site name.

Sorry, but your answer does NOT help me.

I need to know about 1and1 since I didn't find any option for domain expiration/renewal.

Jan, why don't you email their support? James was just trying to help. None of us can really answer that question unless we use or have experience with that company. I'm sure their support team will be happy to help you.

I choosed this forum since I was sure someone has 1and1. Anyway, I posted question here, since support takes ages to respond, but on forum you get reply within few hours.

I understand. I find it odd that they don't at least offer you the option in your control panel. Every domain registration company I've dealt with allowed me to update that option somewhere in my account.

I had 1and1 a long time ago to get another domain added you have to contact them and they will contact you most the time by email notifying you that your website domain is close to expiring and will ask if you wont to keep it going. But im not sure about know. I know they did for me when i had them . So im not sure .
