Thumbs up Best Web Host

Can you guys give me, in your opinion, what the best web host would for my website?

I am planning on having a website that had chats, forums and stuff like that. Thanks!

Its very difficult to say who is best as I am sure we've all had our own problems with certain web hosts.

I've started using hostgator more and I'm happy enough with the service.

Its good to remember anyone who offers unlimited hard drive space or unlimited bandwidth is overselling - stay away from such hosts.

Default Two guidepoints

Archulas

Two thoughts to give some guidance. First, watch out for sites that rank hosts or even recommendations from sites, not all are as straight forward about their associations (profit arrangements) as Lisa. Listening to forum discussions and the like from fellow users is more helpful.

A very important issue is to think ahead about both what you want to do and the support you will need. For example, if you want to use WordPress you need a host that would support it. Some programs need php, others asp (often separated by either a linux or windows base). It is hard to anticipate these things sometimes but it is important to do your best.

I've heard from one guy that even if you acquired all the P.C's on this planet, there's still no such thing as unlimited hd and bandwidth. Technology ain't that far yet

Smile Best Hosting for Beginners

I can tell u from my experience - I am using Hostgator, Hostmonster, Bluehost, IXwebhosting, Thinkost and some others...

Hostgator is far the best of all of them regarding quality of service and support!

If you plan to have a forum, wordpress blogs and other starter stuff you should be comfortable with shared hosting account - which is affordable.

If you have any specific questions just ask...

Default Specific Questions...

Yah I have a specific question. Isn't HostGator ONLY for Linux so far? I know Windows will be coming soon, but how soon?

Archulas, just curious... why would you prefer Windows hosting over Linux?

Default I'm not sure

ssmorgan, I can't really tell you that right now. I haven't used Linux, but my dad has it. I have a new laptop that came with Vista. Is that safe for web hosting so far? I hear there are still some security holes!

Archulas,

Your computer's operating system will not conflict at all with your web host. I have Windows XP on my laptop and my web host is Linux based.

The only difference between Linux vs Windows web hosting is they use different programs for backend stuff, like databases and stuff like that. Other than that, the way they work, I think is exactly the same.
