WHOIS is the internet database that has a record of all domain names. It contains your name, address, etc. GoDaddy and other companies now have a Private Registration where your info does not show up. SBI! has not offered this yet but it's coming soon.

Hey Lisa,

Is there such a thing as code protection for my site?

There are javascripts you can add to your site to keep people from right-clicking and copying but there are still ways to steal your code if people really want to. All they have to do is use the View menu or save your page to their hard drive to get the code. It's not worth worrying about it if you ask me. If someone really wants to steal your code/content, they'll find a way unfortunately.

You an always register your site with many of the online copyright services should you ever decide to take action against someone.

I've seen it happen so much with my sites I just ignore it. I believe what goes around comes around.

Default Good way to look at it, even if it doesn't.

You've heard it said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If so, and I think it is, then copying is the sincerest form of self-disrespect. As another old saying goes, he who steals, steals most from himself. Even if no apparent harm comes to the thief, he must live with himself.

Success comes to the person who keeps his/her mind on their own goals, not on the success or failures of others. Lisa is right, ignore it and get on with life.

Good Success!

James

So true James and I have to admit that was hard to do when I first started (ignore it). I remember I used to go after those people with a vengeance! This was before the engines were smart and they could actually steal your rank.

But now the engines give credibility to backlinks, longevity of site, etc. it's much harder for copycatters to get much traffic and they do more harm to themselves than anyone else.
