Default Anyone Use MySpace?

I know it's a free host, but I've heard of a lot of people having success with MySpace. Anyone ever used them?

Hey danap,

Do you mean for marketing your existing site or making your myspace page your main business site and making money from it?

I know people who have had decent success using their existing myspace page to promote their other websites. But as far as using it as your main site I would strongly suggest you not do that because of credibility.

Unfortunately myspace is loaded with spam and folks advertising the latest ring tone opportunites and call kinds of other MLM things. I have a site but keep it private and network within my own network of friends. I've had some success but would not by any means say I get a lot of leads from it.

It's great to have a page in addition to your existing site but I certainly wouldn't create a page as your main sales site.

Agree with Lisa. I have a site but it's mainly for social reasons. Those social networking sites are flooded with junk and spam.

My space is good for social.

There are too much advertising already on a myspace page unless you promote products with affiliate links in your content.

Cool Social Networking

Forums like this one are a form of social networking. If done rightly(conversation building) I think you will build traffic in the long run. Yet I know(the spam, trolls, etc.).

Look at Ron Paul Who didn't spend a dime on SEO. Yet his following from Youtube, Myspace, Facebook, etc. is huge. He is now one of the top search terms people look up on each search engine.

Default Any Social Marketing Is Good To Use

We all know Google is the biggest search engine taking almost 60% of web searches. But did you know last year 2007 they were rated 3rd in Alexa for internet traffic. Guess who had better traffic? Youtube and facebook of course. Did you also know that facebook currently has about one million sign ups per WEEK! I heard bells going off in my head when I realized that social marketing and web 2.0 are the wave of the future for internet marketers. I had my ah ha moment.

But anyone considering using social marketing strategies must be aware of the fact that these social sites are created so that people can stay in touch with family and friends, make more friends, etc. Build TRUST first before you ever try to market to your facebook buddies.

I agree awamable. I think a lot of people join facebook and/or myspace and think they can just join groups and send out a bunch of "friend" messages and then promote products and programs to their "friends". But just like anything else, you have to build a relationship with your audience and the people who have success with marketing on facebook and myspace do that very well. It definitely takes time and there is a specific method when it comes to marketing on these 2 social networking sites.

Even though I have my reasons for Alexa being inaccurate (as not everyone has the stat tool bar installed) I think they have the general picture correct.

People that are on the web visit there Social Networking sites they are becoming more and more popular by the day and we love them.

I think MySpace is definitely a great way to get up there and personal with a range of features such as themes, codes, scripts and even flash gallery's!
