Default a web A web hosting for 1 o 2 moths (only to learn and try)

I am a beginner. I've just download coffecup 30 days trial (html editor and visual designer) to create my first web pages. I would like to host them in a good company ( some added value or services to learn from) and for 1 or 2 moths.
I was reading reading:
- website tonight hosting
- powweb web hosting
- turbo-charged options (websitepalace.com)

I am bit confused and I don't know whats the best option according to my particular case.
I want to register a domain name too (for trying too).
do you know a very good free hosting site to do my first steps ?.

Based on my situation, I would like you to give me an advice.
Sorry for my primitive English, I am from Argentina.
Thanks a lot!!

Hi Crisis,

Can you tell us a little more about the goal of your site? Website Tonight is easy but can be somewhat limiting with the capabilities. So it's really best if you need a very SIMPLE site with text and pictures.

The $3.99 hosting at WebsitePalace will give you the most flexibility but is best used with software. Same goes for Powweb.

Lisa,
My goal, at this first stage, is only to learn...
How to create a simple website with a few pages.
How to host it at a web host.
How to get a domain name.
It is not a business yet, is like a hobby for me and I don't want to spend much money. Later, I will destroy everything...
Perhaps, when I feel to be the right moment, I will build a business at SBI!
do you understand my real situation ?, I am only playing by now...
Thanks for your time.
Daniel. (crisis)

I will let Lisa and the others go more into detail with this, but just in case you are in a hurry, I'll give a little information until they can tell you the rest.

It is my understanding that SBI is for people who don't have any web design or hosting knowledge at all. It tells you what to do, step by step.

Hope this helps. Someone who uses it should confirm what I have said in this reply. Hope it works out.

Maybe you should just get your feet wet with a blog if this is just a temporary thing. Go to www.blogger.com and sign up for one. The nice thing about it is you can still practice HTML, adding AdSense ads, etc. without paying for anything. Registering a domain name is not hard so when you're ready to begin you won't have any issues with that step.

Now one thing you may want to think about when you're ready to do a hosted site is how you plan on building/managing your pages. If you don't use SBI! then I would recommend some kind of website building software. But you can practice with that without buying a domain name or a signing up with a host.

Once you become familiar with a web editor, publishing your site to a domain name is simple. Most people get tripped up at the "creation" phase and as I said you don't need a domain name and host to practice with that.

Some of the programs I recommend are CoffeeCup, Dreamweaver (a bit pricey) and some people use Nvu (I think it's still free).

I have tried a few free hosts, mostly for testing programs. The two I would recommend are Byethost and X10hosting.

Byethost has an easy script installer where you can try out programs like Joomla, Wordpress, etc. But they don't use cPanel for their interface. They will also let you set up more than one account, if you use different emails for them.

X10hosting is a little better in my opinion, but will only allow one free account. If you use them, I recommend the ad free plan, but you can always change your plan. They use cPanel and also have quite a selection of scripts that can be installed easily through Fantastico.

I understand that you intend this as a test site, just be sure to understand that free hosts are notoriously unreliable and may even close up shop with no notice. Like Lisa, I too have been burned by a free host.

If you do anything you care about on a free site, be sure to back up and just realize that you could lose everything you have hosted there.
