Default Website Tonight or not?

Hi everyone!

I wanted some info about 'website tonight'. Does anybody host their website though them? Just wanted to know basics like ease of use, support, templates, etc.

The thing is I've got a small website at webs.com, but I now want a little bit more flexibility as to the designs and sidebars, etc.

I do own coffeecup now but I don't feel I have enough html knowledge to design the whole thing.

Would website tonight be a good option? Or any other suggestions...

Are you referring to the free website tonight?

I have been playing around with it and an electrician friend is building his site right now. I'll let you now how it turns out.

I haven't used the latest version of the website tonight, but I remember earlier versions were somewhat limited in terms of editing the design. WST is best for very very very simple websites that don't require a lot of customization. I have a friend who uses it and loves it but she does not need to update her website very often. It's just a personal website.

No, as far as I know it's not free. They offer three options I think, something like 5 pages website, 10 or 15 pages (can't remember) or 999 pages... and the prices vary according to the option taken and the length of time.

Well, what I've got at the moment is kind of a personal website too. For now anyway. It could develop into something more but I don't see that happening in the too near future.

So I guess that could suit my needs...

Are there any other hosts that offer designs and editing? Or may be I should just wait a little bit more until I feel more at ease with html and templates. Then I could use coffee cup and a 'regular' host.

I must say I'm a bit lost. Not sure which way to go...But I'm in no hurry, so I'll just take my time and think things over!!!

Has anybody else used WST lately and can tell me a little more about it??

I'm using powweb right now. They are actually cheaper than Website Tonight. The best price is if you sign up for a one year subscription. Than I believe it works out to just over $4.00 a month. Plus you get a "free" domain for the first year. They offer 24/7 support. They also offer unlimited storage and bandwidth, though I'm sure they must have a limit at one point.

I am sure that the truth comes out of comparison research as it is the best way to know what is better. Have a look at
Webhostingbuzz.com, Hostmonster.com and Marblehost.com
These are well-known hosting providers and they never sell overshared network as many other hosts do, so your sites will be always up and very fast.
Take your time to compare them and choose the best one.

Actually it is free. BUT... you have a banner of ads across the top. I wanted to avoid self promotion so here is the text versus the link.

Activate free hosting with Web site builder to create a 5-page Web site. Just open your Internet browser, select your images and type your text. In the time it takes to do it, your site gets built. Drag-&-drop text/images, add your photos or graphics and much more. Password-protected Web pages, specialty content and editing features make it secure and simple! (Bill's Note: It isn't quite that simple, but it is free to test out to see if it gives you what you want without a financial comitment)

The three options you refer to start at $4.99 per month and are basically the same thing. The difference is you are paying to have the banner ad removed. Thanks for keeping me on my toes.

Personally the free one should be used to see how you like the templates and to determine if you like the final product. If you don't, then can it. If you do, I would recommend the upgrade to a banner free site, unless of course it is your banners that are being displayed.

Finally, if you enjoy working on your site and want to expand it or have more flexibility you will outgrow it. It depends really on what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanx Angelo & Bill the builder,
I will definitely go have a look at all these options before I make my choice.

It may a glitch. Probably some updating. It could also be affected by saved history or what is in your cache.

Nice to not have them on though.
