I'm not sure if i am interpreting your question correctly but are you asking how to set it up so that visitors can subscribe to your RSS feed using an email account?
If so you can use feedburner to allow people to subscribe via email also.
Or do you not have an RSS feed set up on your website at all?

Oh I see now. I thought you were looking to set up a mailing list.
If anyone else wants to but can't afford Aweber at the moment (yes it's true I can't) im using this fantastic plugin called "newsletter".

another option
Although I am a solid Aweber fan, I understand looking for free or low cost and focus on that almost atogether myself.
Before looking elsewhere, another option to check out is your host. I use Dreamhost and I know they have a free autoresponder immediately available to everyone using them as host. I haven't checked it out but I suspect a lot of other hosts do the same.

I have seen the power of Aweber and can see why it's the best. It's certainly on my list of essentials.
Yeah HostGator do aswel and I also have not used it yet. I may have to test it in a second to see how it works. I think it will be really useful for simple jobs such as sending a thank you for contacting us email etc.

Hey Happymind,
To set up your feed in feedburner to allow subscriptions via email;
1) first go to feedburner.google.com log in with your account
2) Select the Feed that you want to edit, if you only have one it doesn't really look like a list so just click on where it says the name of your feed to edit it.
3) At the top of the page it should say the Title of the feed then it should have 5 tabs (Analyze, Optimize, Publicize, Monetize and Troubleshootize), you want to select Publicize.
4) In the Publicize Tab on the left there should be a list of services select "Email Subscriptions". At the bottom of that page you should be able to click "Activate" to enable email subscriptions.
5) On the left under Email subscriptions there will be 4 different items, go through all of them and change the settings to how you prefer. Read each page and it will step you through each section and explain it all.
6) The links to adding a Subscription Form and a Subscription link for your visitors to subscribe to your RSS feed can be found on the "Email Subscriptions->Subscriptions Management" page.
Hope those steps are easy enough to follow, if you have any problems or issues let me know.
