    Default Wordpress Themes

I have looked at a literal library of wordpress themes and it seems almost impossible to find a theme that has all the features that I'm after without some major customization.

I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty in the code and changing/modifying stuff but I'm hardly a natural coder.

Was just wondering if anyone has found any great wordpress themes either free or paid for.

Some of the features that I am looking for in a theme are....
    • Email Newsletter Opt in form
    • Adsense area
    • Sidebar that can accommodate affiliate badges
    • Customizable color scheme
    • 3 Column adjustable theme
Thanx for sharing your finds guys!

I think you can search for any adsense ready template. I use widgets to customize themes according to my requirement

For items, such as the adsense and affiliate banners, I would usually find a template that can fit those, and then adjust it to include those.

If you can't find a template with all those options, try to find ones that come close and then add the remainder in yourself.

making a two column wordpress theme is simple to do. Adding a fluid width with two column is not however and takes a lot more coding then it would in say joomla or drupal. As for an adsense there is a good plugin out there called http://www.thulasidas.com/adsense this should have the functionality you are looking for. As for changing colors that should be simple as well. Just a matter of a little graphic work and re-doing your CSS

Good three column WP themes are hard to come by!

I have a few on my site but they are girly....

I highly recommend checking out ThemeForest.net. The themes are not free but are mostly under $25.

    A nice list..

Thanx for the great resources ThemeGrrrl,

Actually I have a kid sister who's got the makings of a internet marketing maverick and she's asking me about how to go about blogging so I'll be sure to check your site out.

Thanks again and I hope to catch you again!

    Great!

Actually, after I replied to this post I put a post up on my blog featuring three column themes. JungleJar has some good ones that could perhaps be tweaked to your needs.

Hi bluefox, I spent a week looking for a theme containing all those features for my site as well. Eventually, I ended up customizing one. It's not that hard really. I finished in a week =)

    Default Wordpress Customization

    I hear you claire0917,

I can customize themes no problem, but I'm a bit over getting neck deep in code.
Being a niche marketer I look to get a number of blogs up and running, getting search traffic and earning, pronto.

After which I let them run a while then concentrate my energy on the few blogs/sites that are performing.
I've noticed that this strategy seems to work well for a number of professional bloggers/internet marketers so I have somewhat adopted that model.

I think getting in there in the code is great, especially if your new at it!
Its essential to have a good foundation in coding knowledge HTML/Java Script/PHP if you want to become a successful blogger.

So I guess with the wordpress themes I was just fishing for some great (different) themes which wont take up a lot of my time customizing and maybe some great themes I can offer off of my blog.

I do use Thesis and I have to say it has saved me heaps of time in customizing, but just the same I still stay on the look out for other great themes.
For anyone who want's to get a polished, highly customized blog in virtually no time at all, and has a hard time or hates dealing with code, I think Thesis is the ticket.

By the way Claire I visited your blog and its very nice, it looks very polished and professional and I love the colour scheme and you have blended the adsense perfectly I think.

If your up for a mini critique just send me a PM.

    Reagrds John

Wow, thanks John! I would love a critique! My site is 1 month old and I'm not yet sure how to get traffic. Still doing a lot of work (especially on content) I'm still new to this blogging thing.
