Joomla is best for creating more dynamic sites (comments, user interaction, etc.) and it has more of a user-friendly drag and drop interface from what I've been told.
Dreamweaver is just your basic web editor. If you have a template, open it up in Dreamweaver and you can use the menus or work directly from the code to customize it.

Joomla and Dreamweaver are two different beasts.
Dreamweaver is a web authoring software. You can use it to design from
scratch. You can use it to make changes to existing templates. You can
create database driven applications. But to do all that, you will need to
learn some "languages" - HTML, CSS, PHP etc.
Joomla is a type of software that you install on your server. What you'd
call a script. And a special script it is. It's a content management script.
Once installed on your server, it allows you to manage content and publish
it to your site without needing to know any "languages".
Just click on the button that says "add category" to create categories
for you content, then "add content" to add your content and the script
will deal with all the code that is needed to display the content on your
site. Well, not quite but you get the idea.
To change the look of your Joomla site, you need special Joomla templates
that has code in it to tell Joomla what goes where in the template. If you
know CSS and HTML and PHP, you can create a Joomla template using
Dreamweaver.
I hope I didn't make things even more complicated. But just wanted you to
understand that they are completely different. Which one you would use
depends on what you're after.
Warm regards,
Bina.

T he good part about using a content management system is that it can be managed from any computer to update your website while with dreamweaver you need to have it installed on the computer you using.
There are lots of other benefits using a CMS where members can even send you articles and you can add more modules or pluginns as you grow.
With any program one uses there will be learning involved no matter if it is dreamweaver or any cms its like windows you need to learn how to use windows to use computer.

joomla
Joomla is data-driven just like most of the other CMS. It is connected to a mysql database.
I've used joomla for a website that I made for my church because it allowed for others in the church to create an account so that they can log in to the site as administrators and edit articles, add new articles, upload images, videos, add modules, etc. from any computer that has internet without them having to know any html.
It is open source which makes it free. It comes with a default template. You can use dreamweaver, web expression, notepad or other site builders to create templates or edit them if you have some good knowledge with CSS,HTML, and PHP. You can also download free templates, or you can buy templates for Joomla.

Use the power in you or get empowered
Dear babbler,
To use Dreamweaver you must empower yourself with the knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL(for a database driven dynamic site) etc. This may take time, but it will be time spend for a right cause.
Joomla is a powerful content management system which you can install easily and manage with few hassles, if you are ready to spend 6 quality hours on it. You can enhance your joomla site with flash files, image galleries etc. Many extensions are available for this.
Hoping to meet you in the cyber space soon!

Hi,
Both have their own advantages but main thing is which one is comfortable for you. I have been using Dreamweaver since long. Once I tried Joomla but I feel Dreamweaver is more user friendly than Joomla so I stick with Dreamweaver.
