Any Joomla Junkies out there !!!
Hello friends,
I've decided that I want to build a second site using Joomla. I know a few of you used Joomla to build your sites. Amy with www.naturalhaircareguide.com uses Joomla and basically I would like for someone to assist me with how to first set it up with my hosting company because this is not like your normal, "download the template and then upload to your server" process. It's a little confusing.
So if anyone has any information on how to get started with Joomla, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
KevinCamon

Kevin, I am sorry I missed this post. In fact, I came across it, because I saw your question about Joomla in the "Sitemap Saga" thread, so I checked this thread to see if there are any applicable info here.
Anyway, I have not worked with Joomla before, but I would think that the easiest option I can think of is to do it through your web host's cPanel's Fantastico feature. Do you have that or something similar?
You can always contact your web host's support and ask them how you would do that. Sometimes, they will either install it for you, or they will give you instructions on how to install it.
Hope this helps a little.

More Joomla Help
I have installed joomla on a few occasions if you are having setup, config, or database issues, I may be able to point you in the right direction. If you are interested in some of the templates that can be used with joomla, www.joomla24.com has a boatload of free templates that can be downloaded for free.
Templates are a 2 click install in joomla so they are butter, the only trick is getting it installed and there are many great addons for it available to install for free.
I have used frontpage, dreamweaver, namo, and many other web editors and they all have their perks and their downfalls but in the past 8 months I have started using joomla on a site of mine "nixweb" and have found it hard to go back, have 3 sites that I currently use joomla on and it is truly an amazing cms app.
If you would like I can setup an account for you on my server and let you check out a test install to see what you think on one of my existing domains. That would give you an idea of what all it can do.
Oh, what host do you use, I can tell you more about the install if I know who you are currently working with...and yes I am a joomla junkie.

Nixwebo,
Thanks for the info. The site i'm building is for a friend of mine. The hosting company that he's using is called www.1and1.com. Can joomla work with their hosting? Also, I would love to try it out first. I will go and pick out a template, also, I would like to use Dreamweaver CS3.

Nixwebo,
Thanks so much. I really appreciate you helping me out like this. I've already found a template from Joomla24.com that I want to use. I'll just wait for your response.
Thanks again
